Great...I've got a sore throat and the beginnings of what it appears may be a bad cold. After taking Friday off, I really don't want to take a sick day tomorrow. I know no one expects me to be that motivated considering how little time I have left, but I also don't want to slack! And even if I'm legitimately sick...it'll look like I'm just taking advantage of sick time.
Evening g'nad - glad the fire situation got cleared up. Those ridge-running arsonists are a serious problem in the hills. Mix in a few idiots that 'don't think' and it can be a deadly mix. Not as bad in recent years as it has been in the past, unfortunately there seems to be a new generation of 'em every few years.
As far as going forth armed, it is better to have and not need than to need and not have. (applies to many things)
I assessed those soldiers and Marine by their ages, rank, and pressed BDUs and relatively little worn boots... I could be wrong tho... I was thinkin' V Corps HQ...
Jest got off'n the phone with Tyler, the young Marine I was mentring before he went to boot camp... he's called me several times to ask advice since he got outta boot camp...
He's at Marine Security Guard Academy in Quantico right now... he's slated fer Presidential Security if'n he makes it...
seems he's qualifyin' on the pistol tomorrow, and he called seekin' last minute advice, as he's not shootin' too well... I told him he'd waited a little too long, but I gave him a little advice...
heh... his dad is an awesome shot with a rifle, but he cain't hit nuthin' with a pistol... I'd go so far as to say I'd hand him my P-12 with a full mag, walk 20 paces and let him try'n shoot me... I'm sure I'd walk away without a scratch...
anyway, he needs to qualify to stay in MSG, so needless to say he's stressed... told him it'd be okay... God is in control... don't sweat it... relax, and shoot straight... (gave him more than that, most of it technical, i.e. natural point of aim, trigger squeeze, focus, etc...but we ain't got all night...)
good deal on the chairs by the way...
break 'em in at ShootMoot, re-visit 'em at MO-Jam...
Which is why my motto is, "a handgun is what you use to fight your way back to the rifle you should have never left behind". Although, by some freak, I was on the battalion team that won the state Guard smallbore pistol championship one year. I guess I didn't drag down the average score too badly.
It still didn't prevent me from getting thrown out of the armory's indoor range for firing my S&W .22 Jet. Some major next door thought someone was firing an RPG. Couldn't hardly blame him, the thing was LOUD, even through ear muffs and ear plugs. The muzzle blast even knocked the dust down from the light fixtures.
I had a ~dream~ about carousing just now... out drinking and carrying on... and I just woke up all dehydrated with a splitting headache.
I got a hangover from a ~dream~.
I don't recommend taking these together.
Good morning!
Well...I didn't wake up with a hangover (!?), but I did have some pretty weird dreams. Tired this morning. ~sip~
Today was the last drive into work from my house...soon to be *not* my house. Day after tomorrow is the closing! I would stay one more night, but since they're entitled to a walk-through 24 hours ahead of time, if I stayed tonight I'd have to get up early tomorrow morning to pack up the cats and everything else, so it's better to just get it done.
At this time three weeks from today, we will hopefully have been on the road for several hours already...
This is so exciting! "Jen and Rosie's Big Adventure!"
Oh, good morning!
I'm waiting for the boys to get up so I can work on the blog...all the pictures are downloaded onto the computer in their room.
Amazingly, I'm awake! Woke up bright-eyed and ready to go about half an hour ago.
There's a very fine line between "exciting" and "scary"! I'm riding right on that line. ;-) The balance tips hour to hour.
At the moment, though, I'm excited!
My, these are exciting times.
I am getting a new car today. It's a Saturn Relay. Now, I need to figure out how to turn in my (ugh!) leased vehicle, and how the new car affects insurance financially.
First things first. Time to get the baby up, and take elf-boy to school.
Oh, congratulations on the new vehicle! I don't think I've ever seen a Relay...I'll have to hunt down a picture.
What color is it?
LOL! I know it. I'm not allowing myself to experience either of those yet, because we don't know for sure that Steve will be graduating in May, but when we know for sure WHEN, I'm going to be going through the same thing! I mean, who knows what will happen??
I'm down to no coffee, only a half a cup of Lipton tea, which has about the same amount of caffeine in it as 2 oz of coffee. Actually, a little less. I ran out of my decaf, I'm debating not even bothering getting any more.
Steve says I'm over it. I've succeeded in weaning off. But I am not so sure and am going to go ahead and do this half a cup of tea for a while. Then down to a fourth of a cup and then I'll be done.
My brain is still trying to trick me into going back, trying to justify it...it's pretty funny sometimes. But I've been stronger. And my brain doesn't do it so often anymore.
How exciting! I remember when Jen got her new car...
What color is it?? What's it look like? Details Details!!
My trouble is that I really love good coffee, and there's so much less variety in decaf. That and the fact that everywhere you go, people have caffeinated stuff! I may try to give it up after I get to CO, though. Maybe. I DO like the fact that it means the difference between waking up stupid and waking up alert. Once I'm off caffeine, I'm much more functional. ;-)
Whole bean coffee is one luxury I'll go to great lengths to keep. True, it's quite a bit more expensive, but the local grocery store will have 8 O'Clock coffee (which is not the greatest but still pretty good) for three dollars a bag a lot of times. Since it's just me...it lasts me awhile.
Also got some from TJ Max - REALLY fancy stuff.
I can go without meat...but not good coffee. ;-)
8 O'Clock...seen it but never had it.
The stuff my BIL sent us is whole bean...I really love it. The beans are very oily! When I grind it in the grinder, I always grind Steve's flaxseed into meal in the same grinder...gives it a coffee taste!
