The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good Morning All
G'nad, sheesh, what a difference a day makes. Our temps were like yours yesterday, same as yours today. Sigh.
Hope the neighbor's kin appreciated your work, that's a lot of hogging for a trailer site, me thinks they took advantage of your honesty and kindly disposition.

OT: We bet Miss Kitty will be less than enthusiastic about 'exploring' today. :-)

EGE: How bout keeping the back door closed, your weather is making it this way. :-)

So far she doesn't like the weather in the back yard and she keeps wanting me to open the front door so she can check out front yard weather. I guess garage weather is in between but she's not too thrilled with it at the moment.

My kitties are a bit disconcerted because all the furniture (usual snoozing spots) has disappeared. They're all congregated on the air mattress, which I didn't have time to put away before church.

I'm a bit disconcerted myself. May or may not be sleeping here tonight, depending on how much I'm able to move today. Still odd to think that this house won't be mine in just a few days - it's all happened so fast.

I'm relishing my last few hours alone. Gonna miss this place! *sniff*

*Sniff* Found pictures of my old cabin-in-the-pines (okay...so I had more hickory, gum, and oak than pine) with all the porch railing newly painted and my folks' car in the driveway.

Poor Miss Cat had only my laptop case with a foam pad and a couple of layers of fleece or the air mattress to curl up on before I had my furniture moved from NC.

For now, she's given up on the Great Outdoors and is snoozing here beside me on the couch.

I keep checking for updates on how DCBryan1's sick kitty is doing.

Yeah, I've been following. My gosh...I'd be devestated. Makes me even more nervous about medications than I already am...

Fiona was allergic to something they use in some vacinations, and had an allergic reaction once. Her face swelled up and she was getting near to gasping for air. The on-call vet (he's a jerk, IMO) told us to call back if she STOPPED breathing. My mother just about told him where to go, which was NOT her usual personality. Luckily we got a hold of our wonderful usual vet at home and he told us what to do. It went away as quickly as it had happened once she got an antihistimine, but YIKES that was scary.

I can't imagine what it'd be like to go through what DC is dealing with. Eek!

My sister had a kitten who had a reaction to shots. The vet took care of him until he was over it, poor kitty. My sister's calico didn't take to the kitten so she gave him to a friend. Now Django Kitty lives with a guitarist.

Django...now that's just cool.

I know a guitarist with a dog named Django, too. I like it!

Only Tam has a musical name here - Tamino, after the prince in Mozart's Magic Flute.

Oh boy! I want to see The Pacifier!! I'd seen previews back in the Fall and it looked hilarious. I love Vin Diesel, but then, I'm a sucker for action movies! ;o)

I get there and she wants 3 acres cleared, and it is some nasty, nasty brush... downed trees, tight spaces... I went ahead and did it, but it was a job I would've normally charged $120 fer

You old softy! ;o)

Heh. Kitty decided it's just as cold in the front yard as it is in the back.

While this picture was borrowed from another thread about the idiotic Minneapolis smoking ban, which would affect even vets in VFW halls, check out the guy with the gold-plated Dragunov.

The chrome-plated SKS was probably for parade use, but that gold-plated rifle would make a nice companion to a gold-plated AK. I wonder how many were confiscated from the grunts, only to appear in some REMF's trophy case?

Heh - she's a scientist-type kitty therefore needs to conduct the weather sampling herself, and take lots of samples..can't have too much data. She is likely processing her recently acquired data while you think she is napping. :-)

The desk just got picked up...Tam supervised the whole process. Luckily stayed out of the way for the most part.

Now I have to use the laptop AS a laptop, whilst sitting on the air mattress - pretty well the only "stick" of furniture left.

Tam is concerned as this means he can't fit in my lap like he usually does when I use the computer. Something is very wrong!

Gotta load a bunch of stuff into the van. About two trips (or two different vehicles) and this place should be all clear. *sniff*
