*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

It wasn't even in my nose, I was coughing it up from my lungs.

Prince Charles? I would, for a whole lot of cash or some really nice horses.

I haven't seen a Zider Zee's in years. Are those still around?

FYI I am not a royal fan, and all of my friends in Britain feel the same way. The queen and Big Ears live in total splendor at a huge cost to the tax payers. Why should we pay for them to eat caviar?
As for big ears and Horsey mouth, I think they suit each other quite well! : D

Do you ever stop fibbing? There is ONE Zider Zee in the nation, and it's in New York.

Why do the taxpayers foot the bill for the royals to live in such splendor? Is it just tradition?

Good morning Tuffydoodle, I am glad that you are feeling better!
There aren't many English restuarants here because I havent had the time to open one or two yet! LOL I do get orders for my British fare though! I have orders waiting for the Cornish Pies that I make, but they will have to wait till my arm has healed.
Well its cold again but at least its not raining! I hope it warms up by this afternoon, when we pick up the children as we plan on taking the children to a wonderful little zoo about an hours drive from here.
We are heading into town in a few mins to do the weekly grocery shop.
As for UK language differences from American..........It's huge. Even some vegetables and clothes have a different name! Deaconjim and I still need a translator sometimes!

I guess so, its been going on forever, I just dont see why. Other than a tourist attraction what are they good for?
Taxes and the cost of living in the UK are so much higher than here.

You know just for the fun of it, you should throw ecurbh's saddle on Bay and start him on barrels..That would be very different for you both, and might make riding at home more fun...couldn't hurt:)

Finding something to do at home would be good, but barrels can't be it. His feet will hurt the most from pounding and from lots of circling, so I think barrels would probably be the worst for him.

FWIW, the first guy we got Bay from when he was ten said he used to run barrels. Do you remember Bay's story? We bought him from a guy who said Bay was given to him three years earlier by his ex-girlfriend to settle a debt. The didn't know a thing about horses, but he had bonded with him, and let Bay live in his back yard and hang out at barbecues for the last three years. Well, he said he'd never ridden him but a couple of times, but said his girlfriend used to "make him run around barrels and poles and stuff".
