The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread FOUR

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Previous threads:

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!
The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread THREE!

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

Jenny just left. We had a great time. We trail rode a bit, then came back and we each worked our horses in the arena on barrels, and they both did great.

Then we watched some shows Mack had recorded off of PBS, orchestra concert by some guy called Anrdre Rieu, it was wonderful, it was held outside in a town called Cortona in Italy. Then we watched some 50 music done by the original groups, but it was recorded now, so they were all old, the men were the best, The Four Lads, The Four Preps, The Four Aces, The Four Coins:) and the Crewcuts. Lots of old songs I recognized.

I didn't know you were a music afficianado. My daughter loves music and I wish she would turn it into some kind of a career choice but she's not gonna. She plays piano, clarinet and tenor sax. She wins competitions with her clarinet but I think she plays piano better.

Good morning. I envy you starting to plant already. This would normally be the time, that I start my seedlings. It used to be so much fun, to watch those little seeds grow into plants and harvest the bounty. I used to grow a lot of herbs and flowers for drying, then sell them. It just got to be such a hassle, so now I just buy a few tomato and peppers plants. It was great raising your own flowers for the varieties.

Good morning everyone!

Very VERY pretty colt lysie.... Is he Arab? Are you starting to ride him now or have you just saddled him so far?

He's 99% Arab...guaranteed..so they say. He's a registered Half Arabian and a registered Pintabian.

So far he is just being saddled. My 21 year old daughter is training him the Pat Parelli way, but really lacks the required time due to her job. She has done remarkable things with him..imo. I give Bentley a lot of credit, too. He is so eager to learn and please.

I wouldn't worry, she's got time.... Really 2 is very young to start an Arab. Just the very start of a long life.

Spencer doesn't belong to me anymore. If you look on the who's who page, you'll see some of my current residents, except for Juma.

Spencer was a junk horse that a friend of mine turned into a decent riding horse, then sold him. He was given to me and I gave him to her.
