*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*
Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
The reason given was 'review posting rules'. HUH?
A road whore??? Hahahahahaha that's a good one.
What I've noticed it that anytime a northerner cooks on the grill, he's barbecuing. We call that grilling. Barbecue is smoked meat (with a dry rub) with the sauce on the side.
We have GNC stores all over the place. What all do you use Olive Leaf Extract for?
We aren't supposed to post articles from USA Today. They've threatened to sue.
FWIW, I didn't post the thread, I only pinged to it :~D
If we're talking about the same thing, Cedar is your friend. It makes great fence posts, and if big enough, barn posts. The 40x90 tractor/hay shed we built last summer has all cedar posts. Termites won't eat it. We've cut alot of it off our place. I wish we had more.
There's some other stuff that the old folks call "Summer Cedar" that's a weed that comes up every year. It'll get about 4ft high and is feathery looking like a cedar. I hate it. It'll take a pasture over.
I personally don't like sauce on my BBQ, but if I'm going to use it, I put it on the last hour and let it carmelize on the meat. Any earlier than that and it'll burn. As for basting, I've used olive oil before, just to keep the meat from drying out while it's smoking. Everybody's got their own tricks I guess.
Sounds like you like the same kinda BBQ that I do. Mmmmmmm. Now I'm hungry!
Well, isn't that tacky!
There's a long list of what folks use it for....viral infections, colds/flu, chronic fatigue, fungus yeast infections, skin problems, some people worm their dogs with it.
Upjohn did some studies on it years ago. They discovered the 'active ingredient', but couldn't figure out how to apply it. ANOTHER drug company(East Park), a few years later, took up that study and they figured it out.
I have a bunch of info on it. I can FReep mail it to ya, it's a lot of reading, but very impressive.
Thanks for the info.
Yes, send it. With 5 kids and a husband, someone here is always sick.
That does sound good, doesn't it? There is a small barbecue joint near here, maybe I should go get a mess of it for lunch. I also like lots of onions and dill pickles with my barbecue.
Who was on here from the Texas Hill Country? There is a place down there called Kreutz market that is supposed to have some of the best barbecue in the state.
They really threatened to sue? Why? Copyright infringment?
Yeah... FR fought an lost a lot of money in past years fighting this cases, and it wasn't worth it... There are a few papers, like USA today and Gannett papers, we just can't post from. If you click the link to the thread I pinged, and click the link offered to explain it, it shows the long list of banned papers and sources.
Love British accents too :)
You have a good day. Sunshine here but windy, highs in the 60's I think. Don't know if the two year old will get a bath today or not. Maybe just clipped and brushed.
I think it was SquareBarb.
Where is the thread you pinged? I want to look at this.
Incoming!
When do they come pick him up?
