*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

The trips up and back were interesting. People are very scary things.

What makes you say that?

Hi Tuffy. Sorry to hear you're down with a bug. Try taking a zinc tablet every day for a while until you feel better. My whole family swears by them for cutting short a cold. Especially when you take them at the first sign of a scratchy throat or runny nose. Just don't take them on an empty stomach.

Their accent is very strong, my kids have trouble understanding them. I used to be an operator with the phone company and because of that, I can understand just about anybody!

Your accent sounds like it would be soft and lovely.

I just started taking an antibiotic yesterday so hopefully it will kick in quickly. I don't get sick very often but this has turned into an upper respiratory infection, with all the green sludge that goes along with it. Yuck.

I'll try that, and thanks for the suggestion. Are they ok for little kids to take? I just hate it when they are so sick and miserable but so far, I'm the only one who caught it.

Good Morning! We're glad to have you back. I hate to hear that you camera didn't cooperate. That's such an aggravating thing to have happen when you're on vacation. We sure would've loved to have seen the pictures.

We took 2 cameras on our cruise. One for me and one for Mr. Frog. We have different picture-taking styles. He likes to take pictures of EVERYTHING and sorts the good ones out later. I like want the picture to be good BEFORE I take it. A vestage of my 35mm days I guess. Taking 2 cameras keeps the peace.

Sadly no, I didn't. :-( I've been having issues with this camera, which is upsetting because it's less then a year old.

I don't know. I'll check on the bottle when I get home. I'm not sure of the dosage either. I'm thinking they're 50mg. I've used 'em two separate times for 4 or 5 days each since Christmas and it worked both times. I still got the sniffles, but it didn't develope into a full-blown chest cold with the green crud cough like you're talking about.

You and me both. My camera is on the blink, and I've only had it a little more then a year. My just won't turn on.

No kidding, I needed that laugh. (I spewed green crud, though)

My husbands name is Jamey. When we were on our honeymoon in Mexico, the hotel baggage guys called him "Hi-Mee". "Where your husband Hi-mee?" It was cute.

The kids don't bother me. You just pray that they don't go too crazy:') Interestingly, some mommas and dads showing up too, esp if they are going to Mexico. Most just loud but good kids. The other older partiers though... I guess most ok too but the complainers really give the rest a bad name with their "well, I never, and "up north"...

Sorry you are feeling bad. There is a teenage girl that is British here too. She has the cutest accent. I hear her getting teased by Texans sometimes. Like we don't talk differnent ourselves.

I have a friend that lives in Corpus Christi but she hasn't said anything negative about the kids, so far. She probably enjoys watching them.

Since I'm doctoring you, I've got something else for you to try. Our ENT doctor gave us the recipe for this and said that if more people used it, it would put him out of the sinus surgery business.

You add 3 teaspoons of PICKELING salt (because it has no additives) and 1 teaspoon of baking soda (to soften the water) to a quart of warm water and put it in a bottle with a squirter top. Get in a hot shower (coz it's messy), and squirt it up your nose. If you bend over, turn your head sideways and squirt it in the up-hill side, it'll run out the downhill side. It's cool! It takes most of the green crud with it too.

Thanks.

British accents are beautiful. Texas accents are, well, hick sounding. (I have a strong accent, or so I'm told, and I don't use good english. "ain't" is my favorite word).
