*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*
Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Oh - and take pictures of ya workin' with him!
Oh, gorgeous horses :)
Thanks, I do love the babies, and the first lessons, whole new life starting :)
Good morning,
Thanks - he is a cute little critter :) even if he does have a blue eye.
That's what I'm hoping for. He'll show great and will make a good stud as a color porducer, but he's not the kind of stud that I want. And with us raising him, he'll be a lot saner than his sire. A big part of his sire's problem is he is spoiled rotten.
porducer=producer
Note to self, have some more coffee, you're not awake yet.
Just don't cowboy magic, pledge, dw40 etc, the part of the mane you immediately plan to grab on too:')
He's a little hyper, huh? :')
Maybe extremely independent would be a good choice of words :)
:) They are like kids at that age.
We call it "full of himself":') So what kind of stud are you looking for? With the magnitude of the gene pull , if you need a specific type of horse wouldn't it be financially and emotionally cheaper to buy one already made.
Old time appaloosa studs had personalities much like Becky's stud. Laid back, easy to handle, safe for anyone to ride. They could do ranch work or endurance. We want that, plus looks that could win at halter. Tall order :)
Hi, first chance on here today, thanks for your advice, doing it by hand wasn't getting me anywhere so I think I will spray her mane first.
As for ACE (Accelerated Christian Education)you can find it on www.aceministries.com
Kind of funny. I can see where they would like their mane brushed. They can feel it. I don't understand about the tail. My horses seem to like their tail brushed too. I guess it's the attention.
That was me, Sharn, posting, i tried to change the post and the whole screen locked up. so I have been patiently waiting for the computer to reboot!
The link I tried to send, didnt work. Here it is

We clicked on the free diagnostic link and were very impressed. It takes quite a while for each child to do each test but they enjoyed it. : )
We are definitly using this site for homeschooling.
We ordered a catalogue and so have all the details here of what to order and when. It doesn't seem too expensive and the material used looks very good. Becky used it for her children.
Is he just not old enough yet?
Well one of the reasons for us to homeschool is that both Emma and Jacob have to wait in their lessons for everyone to finish. They are grade A students and we dont want them bored. It will also enable us to school in the mornings and then get other stuff done in the pm. When we travel, we can take it with us, and when we move, local schools dont have to be a factor in our choice.
I think we can give our children so much more by homeschooing. They both love to learn how to cook things, and I think other skills like woodwork and sewing, caring for animals, etc is just as important as math and english. At home, we can do it all.
The course is also Christian based which is a big factor for us. Our children can pray and talk about God without problems. So many schools are "no religion".
