*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*
Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Just came in from my ride on Harley. It was wonderful. We added some long trotting, loping and a few more hills. Did about 1 1/2 hours.
Now it't time for lunch, then it will be Rusty's turn.
Becky
You're getting some work done!
I have to wait until tomorrow, computer work has to be done first. :(
Well, with the help of hubby muscle, I got the last section of the yard softened up for seed, and we got some starter fertilizer too.... Now I just wish it would hurry up and grow! It's a little on the cold side still at night, I hope this works.
Oh, what a beautiful donkey.
I hear ya on all that! I'm awfully sore too from my digging and such.
Ah to be a teenager again :~D
I did get excused from unloading the groceries today though so I guess there is a silver lining somewhere. There is an air show starting up and they fly over my back yard. Gonna go lay on the trampoline awhile. Free seats!
Just got in from riding Rusty:)
We had a good work out. It's actually very very warm here.
Becky
Good for you... it's sunny here but there is a chill wind. Say's sixty but it feels like 40.
Thank you!
At present he is running with five mares on 200 acres of pasture nearby. I am trying to grow grass on my acreage. He thinks he is a hot patootie with all those mares. He is a gelding and the mares just roll their eyes...
I hate days like that. When the temps say it's warm and you go out and it's not. We had one of those days last week.
Becky
I'm afraid mine are not public school material though. We were shooting birds with our thumb and index finger at birds passing over too. Homemade weapons, you know? :')
I bought a Resurrection Eggs kit for my grandkids today for Easter. Guess what was in the first egg? A donkey!!! :')
this is the first time I ever owned a donkey or mule or anything in the Long Ear line. They are really different. Smarter too. And more resistant to heat, parasites, deerflies, etc.
No wonder they have been the little powerhouse for cultures throughout the world, Latin America, the Middle East. They are so strong and patient and stubborn.
A donkey with color. I'm used to thinking of them as black or brown.
Been cleaning up paperwork and doing laundry today. I'm working up to doing taxes :(
Brand inspector was out and we got the hauling permit for the two year old. The transportation company is supposed to pick her up the 18th or 19th. Also, the colt has developed a blue eye ???? Were did that come from?
Beautiful day here all day, in the 70's. DIL and her friend hauled out to the lake to do a twenty miler - their first ride of the year is in three weeks.
Well, both Emma and Jacob have taken the diagnostic test and have done very very well. We plan to let them finish the last few weeks remaining of this year at public school and then homeschool. We will be working throughout the summer with breaks for vacations etc throughout the year. The children enjoyed it and we were very proud of their achievements. Emma just turning 11 will be starting 8th grade and one 9th grade course. Jacob just turning 6 will be starting 1st grade, although he achieved mostly in the second grade.
We are very impressed with the curriculum so far.
Can you get a picture? Just one blue?
We had a wonderful day today! The sun was shining (I am sunburnt and have a red neck and farmers tan!) I got the horses brushed. They were all good, especially Sugar, I didn't have to tie her or anything, she loved me brushing her and just stood still with her eyes closed!
: D
Just one, I'll try to get a picture. It just turned blue, it wasn't blue day before yesterday for sure, and I didn't notice yesterday.
