The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread FOUR

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

My very favorite toy in the whole world is my fart machine. It's the most fun in a crowded elevator.

My, how we have degraded the conversation on this thread today. It was a slow day. I'm headed home. See y'all.

There are many cultures and races that look at animals in a different way. I watch enough of Animal Cops to see the arrests for cock fights, dog fights and abuse. Even animals sacrifices in some regions. These people think nothing of their actions.

It's sad to me that the people who treat animals the worst, who think that animals are inferior to them and have no feelings or rights are the people that themselves behave worse than any animal normally would towards others.

'Course that's just me and my belief that everything in this world has a soul. And that we are all connected and every act has a ripple effect.

This isn't a very good picture but that's Tuffy on the left and Silky on the right. Silky can very easily walk under Tuffy.

I get those kind of eggs occasionally from the grocery store. I don't crack more than a few eggs at a time in a bowl.

Oh my. That sort of thing makes my heart hurt. Yeah, I guess it's sweet, but poor thing, it was probably so scared.

Getting ready to take my 9 year old on her first trail ride.

Cold and snowy today.

If I don't come back soon, send the St. Bernards.

Good morning everyone!
Silky Is so cute! She's about the size of my dog!
Emma has been doing the diagnostic testing on ACE and enjoying it. She is doing pretty good and I am impressed with the testing. It takes about 3 hours per test, and there are 4 to do! SHe is on her third.
I hope you all get a chance to ride today. I am brushing the horses when the wind dies down a bit, so I'll be on here later. : ) (when Em has finished!)

Good morning! Busy as usual and am just going to lurk mostly today. Here's a picture of my bay Thoroughbred mare, my half-arab gray mare, and my poor donkey. They were so mean to him when he first came but then they all settled it and are very content together.

Heh.... I remember riding my Bay along the gravel road where he used to live when my friend had him, and a donkey came running up to greet us hee-hawing, and it scared the DAYLIGHTS out of Bay. I thought he was going to jump right out of his skin. He'd never seen anything like that before in his life, and he wasn't sure what it was going to DO to him.

Good morning everyone! Not sure what's on our agenda today but it is going to be nice out. ecurbh really wants to go out to breakfast, so we'll be back in a bit.

It's going to be an absolutely beautiful day here. Already is as a matter of fact. I spent part of the morning piddling around in the garden. I'm getting ready to go saddle a horse.

And here's what happened... But they're friends now.... My bay mare is still terrified of strange donkeys.
