*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*
Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I look forward to seeing your pictures!
Colt is up right now and walking around, still not nursing though. He's obviously not a rocket scientist. Got a call into the vet. Fixin' to have some breakfast :)
Beaker, would love to see the pictures.
It's a confusing world... they ~did~ put his food in a place I'd never look.
I hope he vet checks out fine. :~D
Is he suckling around looking for milk but just can't find it? or is he not seeming interested?
Sun's shining so the stall is warming up too. We have the heat lamp going but that's pretty directional.
We'll just give him awhile :) I'd love to go back to bed but company will start arriving shortly. Everyone on the call list asked if they could come over and see him.
Don't know what his barn name will be yet. His registered name was going to be Final Fantasy or something similar but now I'm not sure.
Good news that he's looking for it then, he'll find it eventually. :~D
Heh... You may not sleep today at all, but you'll catch up later...
I better go feed mine... I pushed them to 8:00 yesterday, it'll be 8:30 today... trying to get them used to a later breakfast for the farm sitter.
He's pretty! a very pale buckskin paint like him is unusual! Any more pictures?
LOL How did I know that would be your next question? : D
I was busy cooking lunch and trying to get my computer working properly, so you are lucky there are photos at all. I shall go back outside in a jiffy and take some more pics for you!
: )
I have to live up to my reputation, it's all I've got :~D
could you put the one of Smokey posing on the whos who? It was posed for freerepublic!
Very cool! - Yes, we'll add him to the who's who!
Mom and foals look good too - getting big! How's it going working with them?
Its going pretty well, now that we have more time on our hands, its lovley to be able to work with all the horses the way we want.
I didnt know Smokey had stuck out his tounge until I downloaded the pics, and knew that one was perfect for you!
The one of Lightning is a good one too! He kept getting right up in my face! : D
Just pinged you all, to let you see the above pics of our new horse Smokey, He posed especially for Hairofthedog! : D
Sometimes the challenge in taking picture of horses is getting far enough away from them to get them in the frame!
He's a cool looking horse!
So have you had halters on the foals and taught them to lead? I've missed it if you have talked about it.
Thanks for the pictures. Smoky looks like a tri-color paint - is that right?
How's your little one doing?
What are your temps like now? Still have snow on the ground or is that all gone?
A foaling has always been special to me since I was a kid. Kinda religious. A new day, new life, new hope, new promise. Stables are special places in which to be to be born.
I think foaling is the best part of being a horse owner. New life with all that potential. It's worth all the worry and the tears.
