*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Previous threads:

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!
The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread THREE!

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

Look! This discussion ain't gonna get resolved until all of you agree with me. I'm Scots/Irish. I can drag this out forever. Folks, I can tell you that you might as well give up. RoS is Scots/Irish, and he's telling the truth. Quit while your behind, because it only gets worse! : ^ }

See what I mean! I can't win.

She did... It really should have been any day now for more than a few days!

Good night everyone... I'm tired... my honey's tired, and we're gonna hit the couch.

Have a good night... someone go do something horsey tomorrow and post some pics!

Whew. All I know is that this is a bit too close for my comfort. Hopefully we won't see any cases in MA.

It was a fun discussion. An internet ready WATCH?! I've never heard of such a thing! What's the point? And this is coming from someone who loves gadgets...

My mare seems more comfortable when I wash her bag (with a mild shampoo and warm water) and rub it with a little Bag Balm to keep it soft. She had many a foal, and her bag is a bit droopy and tends to catch dirt. I don't know if broodmares generally exude wax (like Montgomery's tubercules in human ladies) but it seems to me that she does.

I am scrupulous about keeping her eyes, ears, bag, and dock perfectly clean. She seems to like it.

Benji is adorable - looks more Aussie than setter - but they can change completely overnight, it seems.

My husband and children live in fear of my bringing home livestock (so do the livestock in residence - they feel that the affection, treats, and sleeping accommodations are crowded enough already!)

My trainer says SL doesn't look like she's ever had a foal but "you never know" Since I don't know normal before I couldn't tell you if she's flabby or not.

I wonder then if it's like anthrax and pigeon fever here. They are always present in the soil but only under the right circumstances do the animals get it. Usually after a very wet period.
