*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Previous threads:

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - thread ONE
The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!
The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread THREE!

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

Off topic but I'm really getting excited about my new job. We toured the rehab hospital today. It's a dream. My friend kept going around saying remember how we used to talk about this?" There is even a park with ramps, steps, curves, asphalt, concrete, gravel , grass etc for therapy. A pool and we got a transition apartment so that say a husband or wife can come up and stay with their spouse a few days and be responsible for their care before going home so we can identify areas that they may have trouble in. Windows and patios everywhere. It's smaller but it's right up there with the one in Ft Worth and the Dallas institute.

I used to ride in a bareback pad a long time ago.

Putting one on my ridge-backed TB mare to try to cushion the ride would be like trying to put out a forest fire with a water pistol. . . . and if I'm riding one of my trainer's little fat ponies, they come with built-in cushions!

Don't laugh but you know I'm thinking about breeding her next march or April, right? Well, I figure might as well get her used to being checked so when I'm grooming her I reach under and check her bag . At first she didn't like it but now she just looks at me like "strange humans":')

Hi everyone, I finally had time to browse all the comments on here. Cowboyway is right Tuffydoode, Us Scottish/Irish folks never lose an argument! : D (even when we are wrong!). I saw an advert in the paper for English setter/ australian shepherd puppies today, I showed deaconjim and his response was to drive my van to work so that I wouldnt be tempted..........hah! He has no chance! I called a friend and we BOTH went over and got ourselves a puppy each! Her husband and mine are rolling their eyes now! Here is a photo of Emma with new addition to our family BENJI

This makes 16 animals in the yard, not including the chickens. I think we might as well post a sign in the yard that says "Animal House".
