*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Previous threads:

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!
The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread THREE!

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

Well, horse lovers at FR, this is great. My wife and I have 21 horses, 19 TB's and two ponies. Of our TB's 6 are in foal by Mokhieba a stallion sired by Damacus. We have started a breeding and training operation and are getting ready to move to Oklahoma with all of our horses. Our first foal is due March 18th and then they come one after the other.

My wife trains jumpers and we will train some for the track if they are fast enough and the ones that are jumpers she will train for shows.

That's so exciting and nutritional/diet companys are really hot. When you get started you'll need to post the website so those of us, ahem, that need to lose a few can take a look and possibly order. (If I get any bigger we're gonna need wider doorways)

Good morning, and welcome to the thread stockpirate! That's quite a breeding operation! I used to show and jump.... these days I ride trail.

Several of us here have babies (horses) coming this spring too.

Moving to Oklahoma with that many will be quite an expedition!

getting ready to move to Oklahoma

NJ to Oklahoma with 21 TB's. The quasi-inverse of that is me down here in Palm Beach County.

What part of NJ you from?

Good morning and welcome :)

At work and don't have time to talk alot but really anxious to hear about your operation and thoughts on the track. I've got a foal coming that by breeding should be very good on the track, just no experience at all in that area.

Have a great day.

Good morning,

It's so good to see you back :) On the way to a meeting but I think I figured the mare's dates wrong. No baby yet.

Just got home. Been playing with JP today.

Pretty quiet here today. Nobody doing any horse stuff?

I've been on the Mustang slaughter thread I pinged.

We did ~something~ horsey today, went and spent a couple hundred bucks at the Farm Supply Customer Appreciation Day Sale this morning.

We got stocked up on grain, fencing supplies, new fly masks, fly spray, wormer, dog food, some grass seed.... all kinds of stuff!

OOOO, that sounds like fun:)

I just fed. While I was feeding my neighbors rode by on their horses. They ride at the strangest times...Usually right before dusk, but at least they're riding. They're one of the few people out here with horses that do ride fairly frequently.

Good for people to ride frequently...

I really wish I did. I would ride if we had somewhere to go, I really think I would. I just don't want to ride here, around in circles. It amazes me that that's all I used to do, is ride arena. We need the horse trailer... Leave it hooked up all the time and go.

Well, that and warmer weather.... ~shivers~ it's just chilly out.

I was supposed to go on a trail ride, but then I had way too much work to do so I had to call and cancel. Going on Sunday instead.
Exhausted.

You should move here in this neighbor hood:) Plenty of room to ride. Several places for sale.
