The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread FOUR

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Previous threads:

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!
The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread THREE!

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

Really. I haven't heard any details on that case still.... Was the murderer's wife involved? Blackmail about what?

The dead woman, whose name is Lisa, evidently told Barbee (the murderer) that if he didn't leave his wife or pony up some money, depending on the paper you read, that she was gonna tell his wife. The murderers wife was not involved and says she didn't know Lisa was pregnant. Evidently she did know that they were involved at one time. The wife and Barbee just got married in December, Lisa was 2 or 3 months pregnant at that time.

It's a sordid story all the way around.

Ack. Well, that's still sad, but I don't ever recommend playing games with people's life, love or livelihood. Cornered people can be dangerous as any other animal.

The threads on it would be real contentious, I bet, with that complication.

The guy's name is Barbee?

Every woman should have a gun and know how to use it. ;')

I'm with you on that. When I first met my ex-wife she was an anti-gun liberal. At the time of our divorce her own personal gun collection included a Browning Gold Hunter 20 gauge, Colt Officer 45 ACP, Ruger Vaquero 45 LC, Freedom Arms 454 Casull, Winchester 1894 in 45 LC and an old Browning Sweet 16.

I miss those guns. :~)

With a name like Barbee, this guy can never be convicted. Can you imagine the abuse he must have suffered as a young man...being teased continually. It must have driven him mad, mad I tell you. < /sarcasm>

My mom left me her Winchester .32 Special. She got her first deer with it and it is a favorite in my collection.

Barbee is his last name, for the life of me I can't think of his first name.

Did I tell you that my husband used to use Barbee's concrete coring company as a subcontractor? The company name was Cowboy Coring and their motto on the trucks and caps and whatnot was "Your Hole is our Goal".

Yes, the threads are contentious.

Oh - well, at least it's his last name.... ;~D

RE the concrete company... I have no response to that!

I liked our septic company motto that pumped our septic tank last week. "Taking your crap since 19__"

Your septic tank company's motto is funny, the concrete company's motto is just gross, nothing funny about it.

Some horsey pictures of Rocky and Rusty playing this morning:

I couldn't ever get a good picture, but they were licking each other and nipping. It was kind of cute.

Thanks, she has other horses, but no pictures right now. Her camera isn't working. I'm going to go get some one of these days.

If that had been Harley, it would have been a war. Funny how horses can like one another or not.

I've wondered if the dislike on Harley and Rocky's part is that Harley was used as a breeding stud a few times. Rusty was gelding very young.
