Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

After some research, I've found that 1995 was the last year that the *real* Defender 90 (90 inch wheelbase) was imported. This is the same traditional Africa-type Land Rover of old, with a better 4-speaker stereo.
After 1995 they were required to outfit them with airbags and some other smog stuff, to which the Land Rover company said:
"No. Piss off. "
And so... this is it. No more "real" Land Rovers after 95.
Dangit.

Evening Winmag - that is great product line. 'specially the "black" finish on the folder. Too bad it doesn't come that way. Sharp look to it.If those 100 CRKTs don't show up soon, I may have to write them, and the dealer, off. At that point, the Ka-Bar would become our standard pocket knife. I've already emailed the dealer, asking if I could get a better price in quantites of 100.
It actually takes me much less time to "tune" the Ka-Bar. No screws to Loctite, just the one Torx fastener for the reversible pocket clip. They already have blue Loctite on it, bless their hearts, so I just snug it up a but. Then strop, and it's ready to go back into the box.

Good morning!
Ecurbh...thanks for the little stroll down memory lane!
Ramius...I like it. Looks tough...like it could actually do some serious driving offroad, unlike a lot of the newer SUVs, though those have their place, I suppose!
Listing for the house should go up today. Now I have a new thing to fret about: she was coming by to take pictures, and I left the snow shovels leaning against the front of the house near the door. Looks messy. *sigh*
But if God wills it to sell quickly...guess none of my bumbling can hurt tooo much, as long as I'm doing my best!
Today I need to get a duplicate key made, and fill out the seller's disclosure form. Least I don't have to do it in triplicate...

overture from 'Last of the Mohicans' might work as well.LOL!! I was humming that one a few days ago cause I'd seen the movie the previous night. I love the way the lush orchestral music segues into the folk tune and back again throughout the movie.

Just remember, you don't have to accept the low offer. If they want it, they'll raise their offer! The real estate lady will handle all that, but if she knows how much money you want to realize out of the deal, that will help her in handling the negotiations.

We figured out what I need to get out of it...so she knows all that. I just worry a little since other people accepted a price almost 20% below asking - does that mean people aren't likely to offer more than that, I wonder? Obviously if they really want the place, they'll up the offer, but it does concern me a little. Hope it doesn't make this a horribly lengthy deal.
I wonder just how soon people are likely to be shown the house.

That's what is so sad seeing him now. He was such a strong, vital man when he became Pope. But he was just 60 then, and that's not old, anymore. He's now almost 85, and the Parkinson's has really done a number on him, not to mention all that has gone on in the world since then that has caused him concern.

Man from U.N.C.L.E. was a very popular show with the teenage girls back in the day. Ilya Kuriakin was a dreamboat! ;o)
