Sneak out the back door while no-one's looking?

Now that you're smiling, could ya tell me how you prepared that pepper steak that turned out good?

:-)

Where did they have maid service? In billeting / visitor's housing? Sure didn't have it in the barracks...but I did get my own room. Can't beat that! Did have to share a bathroom, but I can live with that, though it did have irritating moments.

If you are doing it right, fishing is actually a very active pursuit that require lots of knowledge, thinking, preparation and activity, not to mention all the wonderful equipment you can use for it - anything from a cane pole and a worm to a 50 foot yacht with professional crew! Also ,not to mention that it gets you in the outdoors, which generally is pretty to beautiful, or even exotic.

Then there is the mystery of what you might catch and of what size or how many - followed by digging out favorite recipes in preparation for fabulous meals.

Fish don't usually smell or taste strong unless they have been laying around too long, or haven't been properly cared for. Of course, too old and not properly cared for is a fair description of what you get at many restaurants and supermarkets.

It's true that hobbits don't fish much. Elves, I don't know.

I was playing World of Warcraft the other day and for completing a quest my prize was a 'Dwarven Fishing Pole'.

It was a musket.

Um...I couldn't find a recipe, so it was kinda thrown together! I liked it, though.

Swiss steak was on sale, so I had maybe a pound and a half of that, and I pounded it and then sliced it up and browned it with salt and pepper and garlic, then I threw in an onion, two bouillon cubes, a couple of bell peppers, a can of tomato paste, and enough water that it was fairly soupy, and then simmered it on low for about an hour, until the meat was really tender and the liquid had thickened. Served it over rice.

I just really dislike fish so I guess fishing wouldn't hold much allure for me either. Oh well, my loss!

I feel like such a fool...but is swiss steak aka round steak? Is it that tenderized kind?

I know I've heard people talk about swiss steak, but I never see it in the store!

I dunno! It just said swiss steak on the package. They were big, thin cuts with a little piece of bone in each, but not like a t-bone. It was about three bucks for the whole package, so I thought...why not?

It wasn't tenderized when I got it...so I whacked it good on both sides with the edge of a saucer. Heh...primative, but it worked!

I had some fried fish and chips at a restaurant while visiting for WeddingMoot that was the best stuff I ever had in my life (in the fried fish catagory).

I ate a LOT of it.

I think it is round steak, though.

Sounds like round steak. Normally a bit chewy if you don't cook it slow and long. On the cheap side.

Anyway, round steak sounds like it would work. The recipe sounds delicious!

I LOVE fish and chips. They serve 'em at the pub where we have our session, and it's torture to smell that week after week! As soon as I have a little extra cash (and after I've been good on the diet for a bit), I'm gonna get me some!
