That's just a rhetorical question, really...
grumblegrumble InternetExploder...
Hmmm... well that is younger than I thought... I get your cats confused.
I hope the drops cure the current eye trouble, and allow you to put this off till you get settled in CO.
Glad yer with us and Martha now ;~D
I think most of the rest of the state is very much cheaper in terms of general living, with some exceptions like Naples. I think State Farm can sometimes not be the cheapest insurance either, although I haven't really gone price shopping recently. I know State Farm doesn't want to sell new policies as they've told some agents that their agencies are not being renewed when they retire.
Hey Ruthy, I don't know if you remember an end wall of bookshelves in my house by the couch in front of the TV. Anyway, half of the shelf just fell off the wall the other night at 3 AM, made a major noise, sounded like a cataclysm. I woke right up and thought of grabbing for a shotgun, then noticed none of the dogs were barking, so merely went downstairs to find a hundred and fifty or so books and a couple shelves on the deck and a lamp knocked over.
Gravity waves...
I guess I should still do the urine test, if only for peace of mind. Maybe she's absolutely fine, just has a tendency to eye problems for some other reason.
Even if she does, I wonder if diet alone could head it off for the moment. Sounds like basically kitty Atkins can help. I'd far rather spend a bit more for high quality high protein food than deal with needles. I couldn't deal with that.
I do remember them! I can only imagine the racket when they fell.
I woulda been too scared to check it out until morning. *smile*
PJ O'Rourke once noted that when someone falls, you don't usually hear them swearing about the "god*&%$d gravity." Sometimes you feel like it though.
What is the reference to gravity waves...?
OK - Do what you think you ~need~ to do now... The thing about money is that it is temporary, you'll make more ;~D
I wouldn't do insulin either for any of my animals...
The damage to the relationship from treating pets, if it is temporary, we can handle... Logan feared me during his ear infections, Bay avoided me when he needed nasty tasting medicine every day a while back. But they get over it when you stop ~abusing~ them that way. I don't know how you'd treat a cat with ongoing and permanent insulin shots (even if you had the skill and stomach for it) without destroying the affection they have for you, which honestly, is the reason we have pets. I'd think they'd just end up hating you and hiding under the bed.
When we were in college, we used to blame gravity waves for everything from lack of balance walking to spilled beer... (it might have just been the beer)
Halvah, in particular...I just couldn't do that. She HATES being handled like that. Like I said...they were going to do a quick blood test today, but even with her wrapped tightly in a towel and several people holding her, we couldn't keep her still enough for the jab. Shots twice a day? Just couldn't happen. I feel bad enough having to give them eye drops and antibiotics!
The catch is, if she DOES have diabetes, even WITH diet, it sounds like eventually...she'll just go downhill. I guess that's something to address when it starts to happen. And it sounds like it's only fairly recently that they've been suggesting high protein diets, and aren't really sure how much that helps if they catch it early...it may do a lot. For very early adult-onset diabetes without any serious health problems, it may delay things almost indefinitely.
I'm trying to talk myself into feelin' better. Is it overly obvious? ;-)
Do what you can with diet then... shots are out, and she'll have the best life you can give her... That's all you can do.
I have to agree with Hair, Rosie. Do what you can.
I mean, I'm right here with my kids all the time and I keep them in line and I understand people can't always be that way and they have to abdicate that discipline to another, but my word...I just can not imagine someone else striking one of my children.
I can't even imagine an adult raising their voice at my kids! If an adult thinks my child needs scolding, they need to come get me. Believe you me, my scoldings can make you wither in your shoes. But if I ever say, walked in on an adult yelling at my kid, I believe they'd pass their teeth for a week.
Now I'm not saying it's right or wrong...I'm just saying it's probably a good thing my particular children don't require discipline from anyone else...could be a real problem.
Took a little girl to the park the other day and before we got out of the car, I told her and Joshua my standard "Don't talk to strangers...if anyone approaches you, start screaming" speech. Joshua turned to the little girl and said "Yeah, then stand back and watch my mom knock the snot out of them!"
I'm sorry to hear you've got something else to worry about, Rosie. Do try not to worry until you know. Maybe they're wrong. If not, you'll be contributing knowledge to the kitty-Atkins people.
Good - well, technically, it's still morning here. Since I didn't get to sleep until three, I don't feel guilty about sleeping in. Worse today than yesterday, which is fine, I'll just stay home and work seriously on the pile of school stuff.
I agree...let's wait and see what's up. Even if it is diabetes, I bet you can at least control it somewhat with diet.
So? Nothing weird about that. Most moms should be that way?
You might be better off shipping any extra clothes and kitchen stuff. It would be lighter and less expensive, wouldn't it? Then you could bring the books along with you in the van.
