The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm back! At least from Aldis. Got my frozen goods put away, also put the peanut butter away and got a frozen pizza in the oven for the boys...a new type! Aldis has a new type of frozen pizza for the same low cost of $1.99! Four Meat.

I tell ya, that was quick work. This is what I did. I downloaded a program that lets you enter your commonly bought groceries and their prices into a database, then...when you're ready to buy groceries, you just click on the items you need (double clicking to add more than one of the same item). It made a tally of how much you were spending. When I finished clicking and adding things to my list, I took the total, added tax and that's how much I needed to have on hand to go to Aldis. Then you hit print and it prints out your list for you and how much cash you need!

This is important, because Aldis doesn't take checks or my particular debit card. So now I know pretty much exactly how much I need. I had been consulting a hand-written list I made. Their prices stay pretty stable...the produce prices fluctuates a bit, but I have the highest price I've seen down.

I got a bit extra, just in case, but was able to buy the jedis some ice cream sandwiches with the extra!

As Steve says...He'd pat me on the back if my own arm wasn't in the way! LOL

No, there'll be a lot of posts like, "I'll be home at 6, what should we make for dinner".

Hah, we're the second pair to move in together since the Hole started!

Burt's Bees rule! It's worth the $2.50.

You watch NYPD Blue? It's comin' on an hour early tonight...the last show, I believe.

Gotta set the VCR so Steve can watch it when he gets a chance. He's got school tonight.

They start work on TheSunRoom next week. Wonder if I'll get a call when they realize I don't have an outdoor outlet back there. :)

Are we the only people who eat at the computer? LOL

The boys are watching Star Wars (surprise surprise) and eating their cheap pizza...they're in heaven.

I've just started taters boiling for mashed potatoes. Listening to a ball game, watching the news (closed captioned), FReeping, and fixing dinner.

I like that, too...but Carmex works really well, and it's the cheapest stuff out there!

I actually have a lot of brands kickin' around, though. I'm still on a quest for the perfect lip balm...

I like the boonie hat, winmag!

I actually have one that I wear on blazing-hot, blindingly sunny summer days. Sure beats heat stroke, which I have trifled with.

I imagine we'll also continue RL conversations on-line when we're not both home.

This still seems vey unreal, though. I know I say that many times a day, but...

I make instant mash potatoes now and then. It just appalls Steve no end.

They are somewhat like wallpaper paste...

Eh, it'll be unreal until you actually get here. Then it'll be real enough.

You're hanging wallpaper? :)

Taters are ready. Pork chop is frying. Kitty is snoozing.

I'm actually roasting a chicken for Steve to have when he gets in this evening...I didn't get it started till too late for the boys to eat it.

I'm snacking on Aldi's brand cheetos...they are quite excellent...better than the name brand Cheetos...if you are in to chips.
