The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

No, it isn't easy.

Can the two be in carrier together, would they find each other comforting or irritating?

Heh...

The carrier situation is this: I have one HUGH carrier that I will be getting rid of. They'd both fit in that, but it's really, really big. I mailordered it a couple of years ago, and didn't realize how big it was gonna be. It'd fit a dog up to about thirty five pounds. Could be really cumbersome in the car.

So...I bought a little carrier to use on this trip. It's vey small. They COULD both go in it, probably, but wouldn't really be able to move. Eek!

Ideally, I suppose I should either get one more carrier or else sell both and get a middle-sized one. Makes me wish I hadn't been quite so hasty in getting either. And I did have one that was just the right size, but I sent it off with Fritzi.

I should also probably take Halvah, at least, for occasional rides over the next month. Tam doesn't seem to mind the car, but it bothers her.

I'm glad you at least have someone who'll take Cleo. Hope it works out. As to driving with the cats - good luck, and I'm no help there. We never took our cats anywhere.

Morning all. I didn't sleep last night, wish I knew why, but I continue to progress from "zombie illness" to health.

Get some kitty tranquilizers... you may want to just start them out that way, but you at least could have them on hand, for when the yowling makes you crazy.

Up until now the longest trip I've ever taken a cat on was about an hour and a half...

But I guess I can think of it as a whole BUNCH of one and a half hour trips, right? ;-) We'll likely stop every two or three hours, in any case, so it should'nt be too horrible.

Alternatively you can ship the cats to me... no? Well, that's the only suggestion I have.

I really need to talk to the vet, I guess. I also need to have them make up some health certificates, so I can easily show their records.

I feel like I've been a horrendous brat lately, though. Also I haven't had a chance to talk to the usual vet - they now have three in the office I go to - and the lady I've dealt with the last few times makes me nervous. She's good, I think...but the other vet has a knack for making you feel like everything is all right. I'm gonna miss him.

When I put two in a carrier and then do something like put them in that car they get all upset at each other. They get upset at the world in general and can only lash out at each other (They know better than to get mad at me). I would recommend putting the ones that like cars the least in the cage and leave the other one out.

Welp...a rather terse e-mail just went out letting people know I'm leavin'. So...now the whole world knows. ;-)

Since we have two people, that might could work. We'll see.

In general they will happily curl up together in the tiniest places, but I dunno how long that would last in a moving vehicle. ;-)

Yeah - it can go that way, I know.... I wondered if they were bonded or if they barely tolerate each other when they ~aren't~ stressed out.
