Good morning everyone! Good luck Rosie!
Today is the first day of weaning myself off caffeine. Normally I try going cold turkey (hey, I did it with smoking...whoduh thunk caffeine would give me such grief!) Anyway, I usually put 2 scoops, or the equivelent of 6 level tbsps in. This morning, it was five level tbsp of regular and one of decaf.
I think I'll leave it like this for about 3 days...then drop it to 4 tbsp regular, 2 of decaf and so on.
Shudder... weaning off caffeine... shudder...
I have to be moving earlier than usual today. No cutting the caffeine here!
Check in when you can, Rosie...
Sounds like a good way. When I've quit it in the past (every coupla years I try to kick the habit...), I've usually done it cold turkey, and it's NOT pretty.
Wish I wasn't such a coffee snob...if there was more good decaf available, I'd think about giving it up again. It means fewer headaches on weekends and foggyheadedness in the morning...but then when I'm NOT used to caffeine, it really does a number on me, so it's almost easier just to stay hooked. ;-)
Still haven't had an opportunity to talk. *bites nails*
It is one of the greatest pleasures of my life...I love caffeine.
But I really keep battling this anemia and the doc and now the blood bank has told me it prevents the absorption of iron.
Funny thing is, I never really drank coffee until I quit smoking...that's when I got hooked on it.
I don't get it. Is this a problem?
I'm addicted. I know it and I don't honestly care, I have few enough vices after all.
Hey, I forgot to tell you another thing that happened at the chinese food restaurant.
When I was at the buffet, this lady with really wide eyes (almost bug-eyed) walks up to me and says to me in this very intense voice "Be very careful! The foods with the red labels are extremely hot! They cook them twice, so they are twice as hot!"
I slowly turned to the woman and looked her right in her bug-eyes and said "The foods aren't extremely hot because they cook them twice. They are extremely hot because they add hot peppers to them."
The lady said "Well, they are extremely hot." and wandered off.
Sigh...
Um... ouch... lack of basic understanding of how the world works is hurting my head...
I can rarely go anywhere without some odd person saying something peculiar to me.
Uh, yeah, I've noticed that. You seem to be a crazy-magnet sometimes.
Better check the calibration on your shoes. I find having those out of tune can attract crazy people.
All I can think is that there is something about my demeanor that makes me "approachable". Which otherwise might be a compliment if I weren't such a white-knuckler! LOL
I rarely confront anything they say though...redirecting strangers is not my place, usually. But I figured, she came up to me and initiated an interaction, she voiced her opinion as if it were fact. I merely voiced mine as if it were fact. She very likely thought I was crazy.
Heh!! You haven't been here long enough to know, but this happens to me pretty frequently. This kind of thing comes as no surprise to the old-timers here in the Hole...
Oh, and just so you know...
It was a chinese buffet, after church. The place was packed. I was minding my own business getting a plate of food at a very crowded buffet table and the lady picked me and me alone out of the entire crowd to approach.
Heh.
Um... yeah... um, I have to go to school now (backs away slowly...)
I came around the corner of the chip aisle once at HEB in Austin and came upon a very agitated young man. That was the most afraid I've ever been. He literally started shouting at me the minute I turned the corner. I don't really remember what...I think it had something to do with the fact that he was pretty hacked off at women and I was one.
I ran away, I didn't stop to tell anyone or anything. Maybe I shoulda, but I just split. Steve was waiting for me in the car.
Most are calm but very intense and just informing me of weird stuff.
