And my Gt Gt Grandfather served with the 161st New York.
I am more at home in the South.
*I think both "The Revolutionary War" and "The Civil War" are misnamed, for reasons I would be glad to share. Most folks find it blindingly boring.
Thankfully, yes. The stomach pain has blessedly stayed at bay for a week now.
Honestly, I do expect it to return at some point, but I hope it takes it's time coming back to haunt me. :-D
My aunt popped by about an hour ago for a surprise visit, so I have to go and finish our visit.
See you all tomorrow!
Heh...usually they just get "brownie points" because that's all I can afford! They like 'em though, cause they can cash 'em in when they get in hot water!
But this time, I got real brownies. :-)
how wuz it?... I'm talkin' 'bout the food yuh sick bastige...
Was yummy! :~D
Time to hit the couch with a cold brew, the wife, and a movie.
G'night.
Why were they lecturing you about bringing Halvah? I guess I don't understand your family... they think it would be bad for Halvah or something?
Minor security redactions were made, but the letter, and his handwritten note, is something all the folks in the Hobbit Hole should be proud of.
In searching for gadgets the troops might like, I bought two evaluation copies of these nifty little chain and wire cutters.
The ingenius cutter mechanism puts the shear point within the pivot radius of the cutters, giving tremendous mechanical advantage. The cutters work on the opening the handles, making for very quiet operation. It's rated for any non-hardened steel that can fit in the jaws, including mild steel chain, barb wire, and aircraft cable.
As you can see from the Hobbit Hole knife, the snips aren't very big, and the handles lock closed and silent when not in use. The only thing I've found to test them on are some big nails, but it cut them easily and silently.
The only downside is that they cost $35, a bit more than what we invest in Hobbit Hole pocket knives. But if some troop really needs one, I'll see that it gets sent.
For you tool lovers out there, this might be a handy item for your tool box. I was vey impressed with them, and bestow the Hobbit Hole Q Branch seal of approval on them.
Good Morning!
They said it's not "logical" to attempt travel with two cats. Like there's a law there...
I swear, sometimes I think I'm the only human in a family of Vulcans.
GREAT letter winmag!
~smiles~
Morning - Great letter, thanks for posting. The wire/chain cutters look like a good tool.
Morning Rosie. re cats & cars. We've been traveling with ours for years.
Our first had a half dozen states under his belt by the time he was three. More recently we've taken two cats on numerous jaunts to Colorado.
Each had her own kitty carrier, we faced them together so they could see each other. We opened the gates and pushed the two together once when we are on the road. They then both snuggled up in one.
Rest stops were appreciated and we had the litter box on the floor.
Ours traveled well, there is good chance yours will as well.
Morning OT - whoohooo- Yellow Face, We see's him we do. 55 plus degrees. February. Not bad at all.
Gypsygirl has been walked, coffee made and the sunday fishwrap has been purchased. Alls quiet in theshire.
'Morning!
yay, Yellowface!
Miss Cat and I have had our breakfasts and she's curled up in the chair snoozing. I finally found my seeds from last year and my extra whistles. Think I'll grab another cup of coffee and watch movies until the race starts.
What's breaking my heart is that anyone who HAS expressed any interest has been interested in Halvah...who in some ways I'd like NOT to find a home for so I'd have an excuse to bring her.
Cleo, I just can't see taking on anything like that. She is soooo easily upset and frightened. It would be really, really hard on her.
I also found a new lump that's likely a reoccurance of the cancer. If that turns out to be true...well, there'll be no rehoming her. But since she's still happy and lively, making the ultimate decision would just seem wrong. I can't imagine having her go through surgery after surgery, though.
I guess I'll be having the vet check that lump sometime soon. *sigh*
Good morning!
Well...the breaking of the news is beginning. Told my pastor this morning. He wasn't really SURPRISED, since he's been kind of encouraging this for awhile, but happy I'd finally made a decision. Told him to pray I get a good job...
Speaking of which, I'm working on my resume today. Amazing how much of what was on the last one already doesn't matter. Luckily I have stuff to replace it with...
Heh...Tam is asleep in a clementine crate - one of those little ones. He doesn't really fit. It's "Darling Clementine" brand. Looks really stoopid to see a fairly large Siamese hanging out on several sides with "Darling Clementine" right below his head.
He should be ashamed.
No clementine crates here. She's just looking all cute and fluffy curled up on a blanket in a chair.
