Will it do, or are you going to try something else? Did you just do a test spot?

It'll do. I just want something close. It's not like I'm trying to refinish a spot on the floor. :)

That's good, then!

i would like to get our house painted on the interior...it's "antique white" which to me is just "BLAH White". I like blazing white!

The thing is, our house is continuous except for the bedrooms and the bathroom! Everything is painted this antique white...even the cabinets in the kitchen. It's not like we can do it in "phases"...I mean, we could but it would be noticable.

I'm tempted to splurge and get someone to do it for us ASG...Steve won't like it, but I don't want to mess with it. Painting I don't mind, but the taping everything off and such is going to be a hassle.

I don't mind the idea of painting the exterior...it's just masonite...should be pretty easy.

You could start with the living room and draw a straight line where the hall starts so it'll look neat. Then do the hall the next weekend or something. I think the kitchen would require more taping. Maybe if you left the kitchen white and painted the cabinets a different color?

I'd rather hire someone to do the outside....hobbitses don't like being on ladders.

I know one thing, I want to change the doors on my cabinets. The ones there are flimsy and some are a bit warped! The cabinets themselves are fine, solid wood cabinets, not particle board...

Maybe paint the cabinets a brownish "wood" color and then put varnished wood doors on them?

I dunno...I'm clueless.

I've got several cans of white paint in the garage....I just have to figure out which white goes where! I need exterior white to paint the gate that I had put in the fence and I need interior white to paint the patched drywall around the sliding glass door. Then there's the white that goes on the window and the white that paints interior doors.. There's a whole can of "eggshell" that's never been opened. I guess I bought the house before they could do that room....whichever it was.

If the doors are flimsy and warped, I wonder if you could replace just the doors. Would you have to have them custom made? I dunno....I've never replaced cabinet doors before.

Well, that's convenient!

It's not raining here. I really don't think Steve's gonna get enough rain to do a test.

They've got us under a flash flood watch for tonight and tomorrow morning. It's sprinkling right now but we're supposed to get some heavy stuff tonight.

There are companies that will re-face cabinets, which usually means putting new doors on them. I know of a place that sells the doors and hardware and you can do them yourself. You just give them dimensions, and they'll make them up for you any way you like. We're going to order our kitchen and bathroom cabinetry from them. The arrive knocked down, and we do all the putting together. I'm going to do some price comparisons, when we get the plans finalized, but I think it will be MUCH better. We can get much nicer wood, for even less than we'd pay for the complete cabinets anywhere else. I can also get them in SOLID WOOD rather than particle board, which is what our cabinets are now, and I hate them. They look nice from the outside, but inside they are a POS!

I'm fixing to take the kids to the mall and Clare to a party, but when I get back, I'll send you a link to the place I'm talking about.

I dunno either...I suspect we can replace them, but never looked in to it, because a) we can't afford to do it right now and b) it's not something I'm really looking forward to! LOL!

If it was something I was really looking forward to, I would be doing all this research and stuff, you know? But since I'm not...I just don't think about it very much.

I mean, we may move, depending on where Steve can get a job! Just too much to think about...think I'll have a cup of coffee. Heh heh!

Exactly! Our cabinets are very nice basic solid wood cabinets...they just need new doors!

I'll pull a Scarlet and think about that tomorrow. Or ASG.

Yes, send me the link! Thank you!

I cannot give you what you seek.

The apartment complex will throw me out and my cousin will up-n-kill me, and he's not very good at it and will take a long time.

So I better not.

OTOH if you want to stop by on your way thru, I could stand you to some Carrabbas.

"Course, it would have to be mutually convenient...3:56 AM on a Tuesday prolly wouldn't work. Carrabbas ain't 7-11 ya know :)

Oh, are you asking her on a date? Now you must pass the many tests to see if you are worthy *whack* -

- sorry, that was my alter ego again. Working on homework tends to make the "normal" side of me whimper and curl up in a ball.

Well, I thought I "milled" the thread :)

It wouldn't be a "date" date...it would be a "Feed the hungry and wandering Hobbit" date.

The test for that? Simple:

(1) Available at the time
(2) Ready to pick up the check

Can you do homework while curled up in a ball?

No, I can't do homework while curled up in a ball, which is why the alter ego takes over and I spend my Saturday afternoon watching anime. Make sense now?

it would be a "Feed the hungry and wandering Hobbit" date.

I'm glad to see you taking your responsibility as a HHD so seriesly. I think it's a vey courteous offer and no less than any of us would do!

It's one of the reasons why I love the Hobbit Hole so much!
