Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Wandering the halls of a big empty house....
Is what it feels like just now.
All we have to decide is what to do with the weekend that is given to us.
Namarie...

Sitting in a hotel room in Syracuse, 'bout to go to sleep, watching the snow fall outside my window.
I love snow, still, there is something sad about watching it come down...not sure what that is, unless it is the knowledge that cold is lethal to us, beautiful and poetic as winter may be.

Hey, Sam... I know what you mean. Can't quite put my finger on it. Snow often brings that dead-quiet. No echoes. Neither sound or vision carry very far.

Yeah, the quiet is part of what gives it that sad feeling, I am sure you put your finger on part of it there.
Syracuse is an old town, was in a bar tonight with daughter, chilled through and through from walking outside, a vox martini straight up wasn't all bad once inside the old brick building.
Transfixed watching the flakes swirl around now.

A fine winter evening well spent, from the sound of it.

So I took on my fear of going strange places and had fun. I really need you to move out here so I can drop a couple-score bucks at this anime shop in Denver every few months. I was feeling guilty about what I spent, only in the mail there's a refund check that is within two dollars of the amount! So I guess I was meant to buy that stuff.
Still, crack is cheaper. And having the Escaflowne soundtrack on when you're already at the speed limit is a bad idea.

Yeah, thank you, Ramius.
Good night, going to hit the rack, have a nice evening yourself, what's left of it.
The Hobbit Hole is a pleasant sort of club that we all belong to.

Nana update...
She'll come home either tomorrow or Sunday. She'll be wearing a brace, but will have ~more~ surgery in about 3-4 weeks. This will apparently replace the socket and sounds pretty intense. For some reason, they can't do this the first time. I didn't get all the details.
Thanks for all your prayers and concerns. I have become convinced that it will be this way as long as Nana is with us.
Enjoyable "just the four of us" evening for Luke's birthday. His party is Sunday at the Children's Museum.

having the Escaflowne soundtrack on when you're already at the speed limit is a bad idea. For me its AC/DC, or The Who. Gotta be careful with that stuff. :-)

I suppose the line "Luke... I am your father..." has already been done. Actually, it was overdone by the time we'd had the nebulizer for about a week...
