Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Where have you been meeting them? You know, don't start on that. I'm almost never home in the evenings. But there aren't any young guys at my church, and the nicer people I meet out and about are all married.
I don't sit at home all day and watch TV and wonder why I don't meet people, believe it or not.

Gotta run.
Please pray. Nana just fell, wife is still throwing up.
I'll be back when I can.

You're old fashioned in a lot of ways, yet you're here talkin' to people.

Ditto... I'm at school all day, and I try to go to church but there haven't been any guys there, and all right, my social life is a little lacking but it's because of homework, not being antisocial. And I have friends, male and female. Just not that sort of friend.
Anyway, the pub sounds like fun! What night is the session?

Old fashioned morality and gender-role issues. New-fashioned methods of living up to same. Does that make sense?
Ooops, class time.

Sunday evenings...which I imagine means it isn't the rowdiest of crowds. ;-) Probably quite a few just there for a few drinks and some conversation, and of course to play / listen to the music.
All good!

You gotta realize that in this town, at least...we don't have nice bars. No sports bars or anything like that.
The places that are termed "bars" are all pretty nasty places...VEY loud and smoky, for one, and places where people go JUST to get very drunk and hopefully pick people up. You can't carry on a conversation in 'em.
So I likely have a skewed view of the things. I have nothing against sitting around chatting with a few drinks. But that isn't what the bars here are for.

I think meeting a guy at a bar during an Irish Session would be just swell!
Matthew is making a birthday card for Celeste's son. They've known each other since they were toddlers. Probably Matthew's best friend. He's really something, incredibly intelligent. He's really in to current events, so Matthew's card says on the front "If I could vote for someone to have a special day..." then you open it up and on the inside it says "You'd have my vote!" then I traced Matthew's hand on the inside and he colored his finger purple like the Iraqis!

Ah, OK. I use the term interchangably. Our usual watering hole calls itself a 'bar', but would be more what you are calling a 'pub'. It is neither dark nor seedy, and serves great burgers and pizza. And alchoholic beverages.

Yeah...there aren't any places like that here. They don't serve food, and it's definitely not somewhere you could bring children even early in the evening.
