The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well...for one I want to find out if there are any singles groups for Catholics...but I imagine that wouldn't exactly be anything you'd be interested in. ;-)

But I'm betting there are also hiking clubs or even reading groups or something. And I want to look into what's going on for musicians. I know there's a pretty healthy bluegrass scene there, which again may not be anything you'd be interested in, HOWEVER bluegrass tends to attract conservative, family oriented types...so who knows?

I can't wait to explore! I just hope I'm not so intimidated by it being a big ol' scary city that I don't get out as much as I should or as I'd like to.

Right now the only activity I'm in is the anime club and I don't think that's the best spot...

g'nad's friend thinks it would be a great place...

The discussion is always about seat belts whenever there is a wreck of any kind... it's the natural knee-jerk response of the media and the public alike. People don't realize that in a bus situation, a lap belt would only slingshot your face into the seat in front of you, and that shoulder harnesses would be near practically impossible given the extremes of sizes they would have to fit, and the fact that it would mean a complete redesign of the bus, for belts that the bus drivers could not be sure were ever fitted right, put on, and left on. But people wonder, and they have to be told again why no buses have seat belts.... not school buses, not city buses, not even greyhound buses.

Usually, kids are not hurt in bus/vehicle accidents... the bus usually wins most conflicts just from sheer weight. but going off a road is going off a road. Anything can happen then, belt or no belt.

Yeah, someone called in and gave the talk show host basically the same info. He backed off from there.

I was gonna say you didn't meet yer hubbit in a bar.

Then again, other than the fact that we're all not at the same table, that might be the best description for this place...

At least the seatbacks have improved from when we were in school, all padded instead of that big ole bar we had in front of us that looked like it was made to knock your teeth out!

I'll be glad to go along to the pub. But I don't think that's the best place to meet guys.

Fort Collins isn't scary at all. You'll love it.

Where have you been meeting them?

We have to work with what we've got. If you're sitting there... it's not impossible that the right guy might also find his way there.

Well, don't complain, or they'll make us pay our tab...

Just 'cuz I haven't really met any, doesn't mean I'm willing to settle for the sort that picks up chicks in bars.

Pubs come in various flavors, I think! If the atmosphere there is like the one here...there's always the chance of meeting guys. It's vey laid back and pretty quiet.

Not that that's my reason for wanting to go, but I'm just sayin'...

Mostly I want to hear an Irish session run by people who know what they're doin'! We don't, though we're sure having fun anyway.

How about the sort that would let themselves get picked up by you? It's just a place where conversations happen.

Well...this pub is a twin to the one in Ann Arbor where a friend of mine goes to Sunday night sessions. And the guy that heads it up is a fairly well known fiddler in that area, if it's still the same. Should be good!

I don't pick up guys. I'm a little old-fashioned that way...
