Hm...maybe. Trouble is that store is only open a short part of the year! I think they are closed until summer.

I can bring the regular maple candy...just not the big boxes of discounted stuff. ;-) We'll have to share...

Frozen feet are not fun!

That's one of the main reasons we're putting radiant heating under the floor. It will also eliminate all the blowing dust and frap in the air that clogs up our breathing passages!

I dunno Corin... I am not one to advise a Southerner about proper gift ettiquette.

I would only offer that, at least for me, a feeling of romance is the goal, not the present. Something that would just remind her, this week, that you love her. It might not be the perfect present, but the perfect time spent together.

For ecurbh and me, it would be something like locking ourselves in and watching Fellowship.... no money spent at all, 'cept maybe for some ice cream. :~D

Maybe Fellowship wouldn't work for her... maybe "Steel Magnolias".

Is there maybe something like a photo of a special event that you could frame?

Or something that would remind her of a certain time?

I dunno! I'm not exactly experienced...

Is there a CD or cassette tape that she's been wanting but hasn't bought for herself? If she likes classical music, how about a compilation of orchestral romantic classics?

Can you tell we don't do Valentine's much around our house? SSQ usually buys me flowers or a plant, and we give each other Valentines cards, but frankly, I've never gotten into it or cared about it that much, so I can't offer any particularly romantic suggestions.

I'm thinking something that reminds her of the times when you first got together...maybe something you did that was special?

I want to spend some of our income tax and get chinese food! No kidding! There is a new chinese food restaurant just blocks away from us (it used to be a Mexican food place, and prior to that I think it was a Golden Corral.)

Anyway, the Chinese food place opened up just a couple of weeks ago...and I really love chinese food! The smell wafts into our backyard and it just smells glorious. I'm dying for some. It's got a "Mongolian BBQ" too.

So that's what I want for Valentines.

Not here either... we won't even do that much... It's not that I don't like romance, I just don't want to do it because Hallmark told me to. ;~D Don't need silly present.

Mmmmm...Mongolian BBQ...

There was a place in Germany that did that. It was really, really, really good food.

Make a deal and go out some other night when everyone else isn't.... ecurbh wondered if we should go out for a nice steak and lobster or something.... and I thought "not on valentines day! everyone else will be out, it'll be crowded!"

Same as when Steve and I first started going out...we used to eat Mongolian BBQ all the time in Austin.

So it would be fun to do that again, only this time with kids!
