The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I have decided once again that I'm not getting married until I'm finished with school.

That's 'cuz you haven't met him yet. Changes your priorities in a heartbeat, it does ;~D

Yeah, and I'm not saying I wouldn't give all this up for the right offer (I think I'd get my master's degree, at least)

But man... and I sure as heck wouldn't want to do it alone.

I'm pinging the remaining right coasters on this. You know, I'm beginning to notice a pattern and I'm wondering just exactly what is going on...

g'nad moved west from Virginia...

OT moved west from North Carolina...

ecurbh moved west from Minnesota...

And now Rosie is moving west from Vermont...

Hmmmmm....gives a whole new meaning to "Into the West."

agreed there - no, one does not want to attempt to do massive brain work while trying to deal with a teething infant. One of the blogs on my blogroll is entitled One Sixteenth, with the theory that each child brought into the world steals one-sixteenth of the brain's capacity to function.

Not meaning to be down on babies, but the energy it takes to take care of one easily wipes out any other intention of its use.

Then again, I have heard of some very organized mothers, rare creatures that they are. They are the ones that talk about how good their babies were. I just smile and wonder if they will talk the same way when their child is older and decides to throw them for several loops.

Jr. rarely cried, was almost never sick, and was the perfect charmer in public...need I go on? ;-)

Woo-hoo! I found a route that doesn't go through Canada. Granted, it'll probably mean a little more traffic since it goes through Ohio and PA rather than rural Quebec and Ontario, but I dunno that I wanna deal with the border stuff with an obvious van full of stuff plus a pet.

And it's a little shorter, by about three hours. Of course, traffic could nix that, but...

Speaking of traffic, I wonder if we should try to do this at night as much as possible. Margaret's a nightowl anyway, but I'd have to get used to it.

Pretty sure I am staying in FL, with time spent in VA - least if I can make things happen the way I want to.

But I guess one day we must all diminish and go into the West :-)

And you're not counting those of us who would love to move West if'n we could!

My sister is considering transferring to our Denver, CO office. So she may be yet another to move West, even if she isn't an "official" Hobbit Holer.

The PA/Ohio route is the way I came. There are a number of toll roads that way, so calculate that in!
