The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Oh we're enjoying it! I can't wait to see the other shows in Season 2, and in Seasons 1 and 3!

I'd also love SciFi to drop Andromeda and pick up Firefly.

Our #1 son told us about "Firefly" and we got the discs from Netflix. We are really enjoying it! Space western! I love how when they cuss, they do it in Chinese! LOL!

I only found out about Serenity when I went on imdb.com looking for info on Alan Tudyk. I knew I'd seen his name before. His was the voice of 'Sonny' in I, Robot! The only other actor with whom I was familiar was Adam Baldwin. I'd seen him YEARS ago in My Bodyguard and have liked his work ever since.

Oh crap.

Monday morning and I still have the yuck bug.

Not bad enough to matter...just bad enough to add to the miseries of the day.

Goood morning happy campers!

Sorry you're under the weather, XGI.

Supposed to be a day off here, but things are happening left and right at work, so I'll be a slave to the email. Fortunately these fires can be put out from the comfort of my lazyboy. :)

Oh my! That must have been just glorious!

It was! I always get goosebumps when the anthem is sung *properly*. And they did good.

I do not care for any of the pop "interpretations" that are so prevalent. FSK wrote the notes he wanted and left out the country swoops or R&B runs.

Great cartoon! Weren't the Dems whining in the late 90's that there was a 'crisis' in Soc. Security? Did x42 fix it and no one noticed? Must have since they claim there isn't one today.

What's interesting is that the only 'interpretation' of the Star Spangled Banner that I truly like is the Jimi Hendrix version. ;o)

Good morning! Happy Monday, if that isn't an oxymoron!

I'm finding new things to worry about, now that the house is taken care of. ;-) Mostly the trip and finding ways to get rid of the furniture. Since the quickest route takes me through Canada, I have to figure out what I'll need with regards to the cat - I THINK it's just his rabies record and a health certificate signed by the vet, but I need to check on that.

Hope you aren't havin' second thoughts, Jen, now that this is happening so fast! ;-)

Margaret may take my bed and dresser, which would be a relief as those were two pieces of furniture I was worried would be tough to get rid of. I told her I'd pay 'em as rent if she'd let me sleep on her floor for about a month...

And I ordered an air mattress last night, so I'll be ready. It's one kind of like OT's, I think - you plug it in and it pumps up. It was originally fifty bucks, on sale for twenty eight...not bad. My rolled change will cover that and shipping with some leftover. Kewl!

Tonight I need to get back into sorting mode - take a really hard look at what I do and do not really *need* to have. Most of the easy sorting is done already, so it's kind of elimination rounds...keep paring away.

I also may take some pictures of the two cats that are staying and put them up on Petfinder.org and also take copies to the vet's office for the bulletin board there.

I thought so.

My officemates really want camo kilts. But I don't think they'd pay $360+ for one. (they want kilts 'cause they don't have the figure for kilts and it would annoy management.... ) :)

Other than the fact that they don't belong in the Star Spangled Banner, I hope yer not sayin' you have something against country swoops or R&B runs. ;-)

Nope. I like 'em fine. But there's a time and a place for everything. ;)

My local talk radio station has played the National Anthem at 9:00 a.m. every day since 9-11.

They're playing the version from last night right now, so I bet you can hear it elsewhere Suzi.

[chills down the spine]
