The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good morning everyone!

I picked up Celeste's kids about a half hour before Latin started and just kinda drove around with them for a while...Celeste looked really haggard...she has a really painful condition which is private so I won't post what it is. I felt bad for her.

After I dropped the boys off at Latin, I took her daughter, Joshua and the teacher's five year old daughter to Braums to play on their inside playset. They had a blast.

I took the kids grocery shopping after Latin. It went very well until we started to go home...then Celeste's daughter got very upset because she couldn't afford a doll at the store...she only had a dollar and it was $8. She was very unreasonable, but it didn't seem right and I kinda figured she was stalling so she wouldn't have to go home! She was having a good time and didn't want it to end! So I felt bad for her, but was kinda happy that she had a good time with me...I gotta do this more often! It wasn't very hard!

When I dropped them off, Celeste looked much less sick...I told her about the situation...I mean, her daughter's face was red and puffy! But I didn't dwell on it. With both the kids standing there, I reported their good behavior and some funny antics. They both looked pretty proud by the time I walked away and Celeste didn't seem upset that her daughter had been crying!

All in all, as Steve says "I'd pat you on the back if your own arm wasn't in the way..." I'm pretty pleased with myself. Celeste is a good friend and it makes me feel good and happy to be able to do something not only for her, but that makes her kids happy as well.

They offer it FREE here in Tulsa...the Irish club here meets once a week and they dance!

I've always wanted to do it but it's way north of here...

Mornin'...

*yawn* It's dreary, wet and cool day outside. I wish I was back in bed with a good book.

Mornin' Ruthy!

It was supposed to rain yesterday and snow last night. We haven't got a drop of anything. Just blah...

I think I like the Highland dancing slightly more, but that may just be 'cause I've seen more of it live. When she was dancing last night, I thought it looked different somehow, and then realized...duh! She was dancing Irish steps.

If I wasn't such a clumsy oaf, I'd like to take either one, though!

That's not something I can fathom! I gotta have music going!

Heh...it's a bit silly, but one thing I AM looking forward to with regards to this lonnnnnng trip I'm facing is the ability to listen to music for thirty some hours! ;-)

It's brightening up a bit now. I think the breeze is picking up and shooing the clouds away. :-D

I got my tax refund and am ready to purchase my plane tix for ShootMoot, but I don't want to buy it until I know for sure when everyone is arriving.

Dad used to have one of these that we would take turns with whenever anyone needed to practice quietly. He would take it to work to play when it was slow, for one. It was used, as I recall, and a really good deal.

Actually they still have it...but he had it set up with heavy strings and tunes it an octave below normal tuning. It's a blast to play, but not exactly standard...weird to be playing this little violin and hearing what sounds like a bassy cello comin' out of the amp. Power rush!

Speaking of tax refund...I should go get ours done today!

I made the boys cinnamon rolls...the kind in a tube, you know? $1.29 at Aldi. They think it's such a special event...it scents the house up nice and everything!

Tickles me.

I did mine online thru H&R Block and had my return directly deposited in less than 8 days.

This is my second year doing it that way and it sure beats going in person and waiting.

So what are you saying? that I should babysit for Sonya? Maybe in a few years... I require that kids or critters in my care can potty without hands-on assistance.

*sigh*

I finally called the realtor. The lady I had sent the e-mail to is stationed at the office in the next town...which probably isn't a big deal, but it makes me wonder if I should try to get someone else. On the other hand, I DID already send her an e-mail.

I'm partly just feeling gun-shy. When I BOUGHT the house, the first agent I talked to was a guy that didn't seem to care at all about the job or about anything other than selling me something and fast. He didn't come across very well - several of the houses had obvious problems, but he kinda covered for them. Made me nervous. He also didn't tell me that according to their policies, when you start to work with the agency, you are required to stay with the same agent throughout. AND another lady from that office showed me a few houses when he couldn't...which further confused me, I guess.

So...when I called the other office (in the town where I live now) and asked if I could see the house I bought and an agent from that office showed me around, I got a furious call from the first office saying I was trying to stir up trouble between agents and now they had no idea who to give me to and to determine who would get commission. I guess it was stupid of me not to know the rules, but I honestly didn't.

And now I'm worried about accidentally doing something like that again. *bites nails*

Sounds like you got in a catty mess that is not your mess. You're the customer and can go to whoever you wish.

Now, as the seller, you will, when you agree to, sign something to actually list the house through a particular person. ... but with multiple listing service, many realtors will show it and you many never see the selling realtor until there's an offer. That's how it worked on my Dad's house. The listing realtor listed the house, and he just sat back and waited for the others to do the leg-work.

And they split the commission in that case... not sure how even....

I'm just wondering if, because I e-mailed one person (and this is at a different agency, by the way...but one of the people I dealt with originally), I already did something binding. I would think not...but then, I never signed anything last time, either! The guy was supposed to give me a form to sign, but hadn't.

They ended up dividing the fees, I think. It was crazy. And I felt horrible about all of it, though I didn't intentionally do anything wrong.

I think I'll just call the main office back and go from there. Eek! This is all rather stressful. Paperwork and contracts are scary.

There will be a written contract when you are the seller. I don't think you are bound in any way until then.

You may have inspections you have to have done for agents to take the listing... pest inspections... septic? Any idea what's required where you are?

I just got off the phone with this gal. She was very brisk, very cheerful...seemed to really know her stuff. She's coming by to see the house on Tuesday afternoon. So...I have the weekend to clean and fret and fret and clean. ;-)
