Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I dunno if I should just give a coupla weeks notice when the time comes... Yes, that's exactly what you should do. No matter how much they may like you and the job you're doing, you're not their first priority.
If you tell them now, they'll start looking for your replacement.
You don't have to limit yourself to two weeks. When you have a definite date, you can give a longer notice. But hold off as long as you can.

Do you think your current boss will be a good reference, if need be, later? You might give an extra week or two's notice, but no more than that. What would be best is if you give notice at a time when if they say, "fine, don't show up tomorrow" you're willing to leave then.

Good advice - thanks!
I guess as soon as the closing goes through successfully, I can make a clearer decision on an actual moving date. Probably should just pretend nothing is happening until then. I mean...if anyone asks I'll admit I'm selling the house, but no more than that for now, except for a few close friends.

No, we came back this afternoon. I wasn't sure what time we'd get back or how much time I'd have this evening. I'm avoiding working on our taxes...

I see! Well, we had a bunch of hay delivered today 87 bales... as much as we could fit in the barn.
Gidget is having an absolute ball watching "Babe". ecurbh is half zonked on antihistamines to get over the hay.
I'm pooped, goin' to bath and bed.

They might want to know why there are "For Sale" tags on the furniture. :)
To: Overtaxed; All
Heh...or why the furniture is slowly disappearing, in any case!
Good morning! Goin' to church and then I'm going to spend a few hours this morning sorting through stuff again. I think I'll pick one room to keep the things I'm keeping and start piling boxes there. If I DO do the indoor garage sale thing, I'll just keep that one room closed off, and try to fend off any Sackville-Bagginses...
