The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

His point will be that this way, the agency takes a big chunk. In my opinion they earn that chunk...but that's kinda beside the point.

I'll likely tell him just to play along...and say that it's OK for them to come by again without the agent AFTER we do the initial viewing, if they still want to. Also point out that offers DO have to go through the agency.

Hope it doesn't end up being messy. And I dunno what Stephen told him about price. I think he talked to him about it, and that's how the daughter found out in the first place. So...hopefully they don't have crazy expectations.

Yes, I worry too much. But writing stuff down helps get it out of my system!

That's what we're here for. Tell us how it goes, and don't let this guy intimidate you just because he knows you.

Oohkay...have the first offer already. We're gonna meet to discuss it this evening, but the real estate lady said I should just listen, but wait until after all the other people have come through this weekend to make any decision.

She didn't know any details...it may or may not be a good offer. Still...

Whoa!

We had better be careful about using the TPL - it appears to be a very potent spiritual tool!

Starting to feel "meant" to be doing this yet?

If this sells in less than a week, it's gonna be rather scary! I'd still have until closing, but...

Still, I won't know how good the offer is until tonight. We'll see. Might be pretty low.

Hey, watch that pessimism!

Heh, in all of this my goal was to have you here by July so that I can get a bigger place when my lease is up...

I don't think we'll have a problem with that...

No, we're more likely to have to share one bedroom for months than anything else...

the guy had already ranted a bit about my signing with an agency. He has no use for such things.

Tell him he can always look at other houses....

Ping to the Queen of Computer Tech....

So I got all the parts to my computer hooked up (I think). I can't install anything until I get a monitor but I wanted to be sure it worked, so I plugged it in, flipped the switch and... nothing. What is the most likely thing I've done wrong?

I checked all the power connectors, they look fine. Since there's a case fan, that at the very least should start, no?

Guess what? Full price offer, in cash.

I'm in shock.

It IS dependent on one more thing: they're sending an inspector by tomorrow to look at the foundation and the roof. If those don't need more than up to $3000 in repairs, they're buying it.

Did I mention I'm in shock?

Way to go Rosie! :-)

Howdy all!

My head's still spinning from this WA re-vote / not re-vote bidness. Not sure what to think of it yet.
