The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

They're both mixes - Halvah is Himalayan / Siamese, and Cleo is Siamese / standard Cat. ;-) But they don't really get along. Tam and Halvah are very close...but Halvah only tolerates Cleo. With regard to animals other than Tam, she's kind of a...well...a term you'd usually associate with female canines... ;-)

Why, Corin, don't you want a cat?

Good morning, all. Another busy day ahead of me, so hopefully I can get some serious progress made on assignments while at work today.

I have a cat.

And a dog.

And a Nana.

I played tne Innkeeper in the Christmas production. There is no room in the Stormhands' Inn.

And we don't have a stable.

(good morning Hair)

True story.

We wuz on our way to church one night. I was probably 3 or 4. I looked down in the driveway and said "Mommy, the cat's dirty."

My dad was standing at the door waving frantically for my mom to just drive on...

Our first set of cats got put outside for six months cuz they couldn't learn not to pee on the carpet. One took off and was never seen again. One last three months and then got squished. It was my duty to make sure the siblings didn't find out while Dad took care of the carcass.

The third got let back inside and is actually still alive. She's blind and senile and weird, though.

I guess I've been lucky. Never had a cat pee in the house...except where they were supposed to, that is.

The dogs, on the other hand...

Fiona liked to pee on beds. And I'd never catch her doing it, so I couldn't punish her for doing it.

There's nothing quite so awful as getting home late and exhausted, crawling into bed, and finding it cold and wet...and the extra set of sheets are in the laundry you meant to do that evening, before you were delayed.

I'm sure they're doing better now that they have someone home at all times. A lot of that was my fault...but I sure don't miss it.

Oh, lovely... Yeah, your cat better not do that since I've only got one set of sheets.

I dunno that Tam has ever barfed.

Cleo does, once in a while. But she's the ancient cat...the one that will definitely not be moving.

Hm...speaking of sheets, I guess I'd better start thinkin' about picking up an air bed, no?

I can use it out at the house, too, while I'm staying there. I have to beg Margaret to let me use her floor, too. ;-) Haven't done that yet.
