La Palma Simulation

Many experts believe an eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma could cause a massive landslide, triggering a "mega-tsunami." The giant tidal wave would measure over 150 feet tall, travel at 500 mph, and smash into North and South America with destructive force. The U.S. would have only 6 to 12 hours to evacuate the tens of millions of people living along the eastern shoreline.

KEYWORDS: canaryislands; catastrophism; cumbrevieja; lapalma; tsunami
On air Coast to Coast AM now (1:30AM Sat)., with reporter Linda Moulton Howe and Dr. Steven N. Ward of U.C. Santa Cruz. Was mentioned tsunami could go fifty miles inland. Has interesting tsunami simulation.

Sure, but that is only if people aren't wearing the pyramid hats and contacting the aliens for help...:-)

You almost have it right. It is the Atlantis pyramid power generators brought to Earth by the Ancient Astronauts and which have been suppressed by Big Oil and the CIA in cahoots with Bush and the Saudis which technology I am recreating from diagrams hidden on the backs of early copies of the Declaration of Independence which were hidden by the Masons which will save us.

WARNING: THIS POST IS TONGUE-IN-CHEEK

You, MRMEAN, are spreading disinformation and I am reporting you to the moderators. Everyone Knows the pyramid power generators were delivered by aliens in a UFO that came to Earth in the year 10,000 B.C. Art Bell told me all about it.

I believe this link to this particular program: http://www.coasttocoastam.com/shows/2005/01/21.html -- might last a little longer than the one you provided.

The Discovery Channel's earlier (2 years ago) version of their constantly-edited La Palma tsunami show said it could be 1,000 feet high and 500 miles from front to back. One of their animations showed it engulfing the entire Florida peninsula. And sure enough, right here in the middle of the state, there are 6" to 2' thick layers of sand underground, depending on how deep you dig. Makes ya wonder.

Discovery channel (I think it was) did a whole show about this possibility. There is historical evidence of a landslide causing an instant major tsunami wave around some Alaska sound. Wish I could remember the name.

Yeah that's it, I couldn't remember details about that show. Where was the Alaska thing?

There are two Alaska tsunamis..that interest scientists.. A big one thousands of years ago..and a smaller one that occured in the 50's in a bay..It was over 1700 feet high. That one showed scientists that in waves caused by landslides, the maximum height of the wave is about equal to the height of the landslide..That's why the Canary Island scenario is so scary..

that's the one:

Back in 1953 two geologists travelled to a remote bay in Alaska looking for oil. They gradually realised that in the past the bay had been struck by huge waves, and wondered what could have possibly caused them. Five years later, they got their answer. In 1958 there was a landslide, in which a towering cliff collapsed into the bay, creating a wave half a kilometre high, higher than any skyscraper on Earth. The true destructive potential of landslide-generated tsunami, which scientists named "mega-tsunami," suddenly began to be appreciated. If a modest-sized landslide in Alaska could create a wave of this size, what havoc could a really huge landslide cause?

Exact measurements were 1,500 ft. Lituya Bay 1958. Two fishermen killed, two survived when their boat landed 2 and 1/2 miles inland in the top of the trees.
