In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs as always. Subbie is also here for THREE days. So you better be nice, otherwise you get coal on your face. Im just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words as if can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.
This word is pronounced tuk er
Etymology: I dont know.
Verb:
1) Exhaust, fatigue.
I know what naughty words rhyme with this one, so be careful!
I probably ought to run a generator out to her house.
I've always liked playing in the kitchen, xsmommy. It helps me unwind. Relaxes me.
Cooking. Some baking. Haven't a tried a turkey or pies yet.
Don't own a Bread Machine. Still do bread dough in a huge aluminum bowl. Let it rise by the heat. Beat it down. Knead it. Let it rise again. Bake it.
I woke up and put on my bikini for a bath with Lillie (we don't like to confuse a breast-fed baby.) Then into a thin cotton sweater and denim dress for shleping around town. Then flannel PJ's for night-time, laying out my red wool knit separates for church tomorrow...but if it's too cold I'll just stay home and thank God I am no longer Catholic and subject to "mortal sin" and "holy days of obligation," while I send my daughter off to RCIA...
. It is fifteen days til the Superbowl and the city is looking very nice--except for the newly planted palm trees which are a uniform lifeless drab tan ...I am tempted to go downtown with a few cans of green paint...but I am clumsy, afraid of ladders and not very artistic....maybe if I just nailed a few Norwegian Blues onto the fronds...
We all have Superbowl fever...except someone ordered these light blue bracelets for "waves of welcome" (which look disturbingly like the bracelets sold by this moonbat and her dad in support of the UN
...and we are a garnet county in a red state.
All of the bridges are decked out in lights. It's actually kinda nice if you don't think about the price tag...and the attention we have garnered from terrorists...and the traffic..and lack of Watney's Red Barrel...
Sounds like you have a full and prosperous weekend scheduled, Dutchgirl.
Driveway's finished. Cut paths to the car, garbage cans, front and back porches. Put some food out for my four stray feline friends.
May go out tomorrow to watch my neighbors and others dig themselves out. Spend money on groceries (Already have milk) and perhaps a new 19" LCD flat monitor.
Hope all is quite and well on the home front.
Jack.
Howdy.
We took off shortly after Noon to head down to the southern part of the county to pick up the balance of clothes and stuff *including boots) that Jax had left at our friends' place Thursday.
It was snowing pretty good here, but by the time we went 15 miles south it had changed to rain and it was still rianing when we got home around 6.
I fixed dinner and was asleep by 8:30.........I did no FReeping at all last night.
It snowed a little bit more over night, but it's only 16 out so I imagine that there is ice under the dusting of snow.
I'll know for sure shortly when hubby gets back from getting the papers.
we didn't get any more snow overnight, but it is quite blustery out. 13 degrees, feels like (according to the weather channel) -6. Guess we will be bundling up for church!
Morning! I saw that Gabz has still not been heard from-I'm also betting that they lost power, but she was prepared for that-I hope everyone is okay.
It didn't get as cold here as predicted-only down to 30 right now and not windy. Hubby is downstairs reading a book-I have a bid I'm going to get started on, then read for awhile. As soon as it gets to be a decent hour, I'm going up the road to see a neighbor who works at the county courthouse-I want to know how to get a copy of the original plat of this neighborhood when the rancher sold it to the developer in the 1950's so I can see if and how the issue of the water district was handled-none of my neighbors' deeds show that there were any rights conveyed to the water district, and mine doesn't either. Unless the plat and original sale deed of the subdivision shows something, it appears that we are being scammed...
funny about wearing the bikini in the tub to keep Lilli from thinking about food sources! i used to bathe with xsteen when she was a teeny girl, until i got the first and only yeast infection of my life, from bathing with her, and it happened to be right around her first birthday and i was DYING from it! never again got in the tub with my babies for fear of their yeasty bottoms!
I'm glad you're okay-we were getting a bit concerned.
Looks like it might be sunny out here but ooooh so windy.
Thank you for your concern.
Hubby just got back from getting the papers..but only 2 of the 3 he normall gets. The highway is fine, but our road and the other side roads are just skating rinks.
I'm trying to check road conditions further north, because he is insisting he's going to head to his office, instead of fighting with Jax for the phone line.
we really escaped the brunt of what they were promising, weatherwise, but sounds like the northeast is getting exactly what they said they would, if not more.
Punishment for voitng blue?
I only hope I don't have to try to find the original 1911 deed for conveyance of the riverbank area of the ranch that is now under 120 feet of water to the builder of the dam. I definately get the impression that the water co is counting on the fact that they have been bullying people for so many years that no one will go digging into the old documents on each subdivision. Well, it may not have been done until now, but I have what my mom used to call "insatiable curiousity"-and mysteries make my nose itch...
i am sure there is added incentive. since your adversaries don't appear to be playing fair, to try to expose them. hope you find a smoking gun!
you might be on to something there!
Naahhhhh - O DC would be under 8 feet of vengeance...
I think it's a smart move on your part to go searching for those documents.
It's actually very interesting and can be a lot of fun searching through them...............and it's not really all that difficult, just a bit time consuming. You have to work backwards, starting with your own deed.locate the deed it references, and just keep back tracking the referenced deed.
I'm watching the most beautiful sunrise-the few high clouds in the sky are the loveliest shades of pink and lavender-it looks stunning against the blue sky. God's colors are always the best.
Hubby informs me that he, too intends to go to his office in Kerrville to pick up some client info he needs at the office in SA. If I go along for the ride, we could go to late morning mass at a church there that I like and I can get some more holy water to sprinkle around the downstairs bedroom to calm that spook down (again). I can also go to a new junque shop I saw advertised on a billboard when I was working there last week.
You might want to check for closings and cancellations.........most Church services have been cancelled around here.
