This Season: Book Smarts versus Street Smarts
I agree there's no accounting for tastes, and I also agree that they are both eyesores. But it was clear to me why the Sony guys went with Magna's, and I think a suggestion about a rig was just stupid. You have to remember, it wasn't about the overall quality of the art, or even the projected quality looking at it from no background other than one thats looking at two murals and deciding. It was about what Sony felt would project their view better, and Magna looked it from that perspective, while the other team did not.
I've seen other App. episodes where the winner was determined subjectively and I didn't agree. But here, I'm having a hard time understanding why anyone would not agree with this decision. You simply can't view it from a tabula rasa perspective, but from one of Sony PS.
Well, this week it's putt-putt with children, certainly not the high-roller wheeler-dealer image they were hoping to glean from Donald Trump.
The good news is that Carolyn is back this week although George is "on assignment". I guess that means the two-week trial of Grump, Trump and Frump is over for now.
BTTT
Okay it's offical. I'm feeling murderous towards John.
He was quite the arrogant jerk, wasn't he? But I was even more annoyed at Audrey's Scarlett O'Hara ("With God as my witness, I'll never live out of my car again!") routine.
Yeah that was real drama *lol* But I envisioned a meat cleaver between John's eyes when he did his whole 22 year old little girl thing. GRRRRRRR!
I agree. John had come off pretty well, as a smart guy and a straight shooter, until this episode. My opinion of him has gone down considerably. I think he hit exactly on Audrey's problem, which is a lack of maturity, but he didn't have to be such an A$$ about it.
I knew she was going to get fired :( As much as I hate John, the team didn't respect her. Oh well.
Me too. But I think Audrey will do fine in the long run. She just needs to learn how to deal with jerks and not let herself be intimidated. I had the same problem when I in my first real job. The Johns of the world can't intimidate you unless you let them.
Agreed.
John had Audrey pegged at every turn. Sure, he wasn't particularly delicate about it but, bottom line, he was right. He almost cost himself by pulling a Michael and not doing his end of the job. You need to work hard even when you don't think much of the leader.
I think John survives this though. In the end, even Angie agreed that Audrey had to go.
Three other things. First, would you ladies rather see Ashley every week instead of George? Other than some issue with jowls, I thought this guy was much more telegenic.
Secondly, Kendra SPEAKS! And she actually had a good idea too, not just a sound bite. She's clearly the most under-the-radar this season. Soon, though, we'll have to find out if she can lead.
Finally, wouldn't it be nice to find another reason to fire someone besides "couldn't lead"? Brian "couldn't lead". Danny "couldn't lead". Kristen "couldn't lead". Tara "couldn't lead". Audrey "couldn't lead". They all had bigger problems than that but, ultimately, Trump comes up with the same reason to fire each of them. I'm almost ready to see Ivana drop her drawers again just so Trump can fire somebody for a different cause.
Ashley's better looking for sure, but I prefer George. Then again, I've always had a soft spot for curmudgeonly old guys.
I think Trump decides who he wants to fire pretty early on, and then comes up the with reasons later. "Couldn't lead" always works for a losing PM.
I heard that when Brian told Trump "yes, I should be fired" and Trump laughed and replied "this could be the shortest boardroom we've ever had", that Trump actually did go ahead and fire him then but the producers told them they needed to have more boardroom drama first and so Brian had to argue for himself already knowing he'd been fired before Trump was allowed to fire him again.
Agree, TT, Audrey was a mess and deserved to be fired. I'd never hire her to do anything. Too bad about her childhood, but it's interfering with her work. She's much too defensive and emotional. Maybe another ten years of seasoning will do her good.
I rather enjoyed the Donald flirting with Jill on the golf course. She's caught his eye and his attention...a week or so ago he defended her, saying she was "good at" BSing. IMO, she and bow-tie are the only apprentices worth watching. They're just fun and interesting. Not one of this season's crop has demonstrated real exec ability. Gee, did they run out of qualified candidates in the first show? Lots of talent in that crowd.
Grafitti and miniature golf? Like dog washing, they seem such idiot tasks in a city where there thousands of companies doing interesting things where the contestants might show their stuff or lack of it in real-world settings. Selling Trump water, running a restaurant, throwing a bridal gown sale...those were fun to watch.
I love George. He reminds me of many old guys who helped me out when I first started my career in NY. Cut-to-the-chase, no-BS, smart-as-whips, set-you-straight, hearts-of-gold guys. Always great to have on your side, and they'd be on you side as long as you made the effort to do your best.
I'm curious to see the reaction about Trump flirting with Erin (that's her name, not Jill) considering he was engaged when they were taping the show and is married now. Since the winner is announced on a live show, I tend to think that it may help Erin stay in the game but will actually hurt her when it is time for Trump to choose the winner.
If my politically correct hunch is correct and think Trump will not choose a third straight white man (unless he turns out to be gay), it's down to Craig and five women. I can't see Craig or Stephanie winning so that leaves Erin, Angie, Tana and Kendra. Of those, we just haven't seen enough of Tana and Kendra to form an opinion. Angie seems the most capable of the remaining women but I wonder if either her smoking or her odd hair will cost her the job.
If I were to guess at a Final Four, I would say Alex, Craig, Erin and Angie. That's not to say those are the four best players but they are the ones I think are the most likely to get to the final episodes.
For anyone who enjoyed the Apprentice parody on Fox called "My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss", the show was cancelled in December halfway through its run because it could not generate an audience opposite "Desperate Housewives" and "Sunday Night Football". There was a groundswell of angey/disappointed viewers who wanted to see the remaining episodes so Fox is now slowly making them available through its website. They will probably present one a week until they get to the finale (rumored to have a Trump tie-in).
For those who need a little catching up, there were 12 "ivy leaguers" (looking mostly like models and wannabe actresses) brought to Chicago to compete for a job at IOCOR, a fake corporation headed by "billionaire" Mr. N. Paul Todd (rearrange the letters and you get guess who). The candidates are whittled down Apprentice-style and given ridiculous business tasks such as selling hot soup on the street in the middle of summer, selling "environmentally safe" tampons made from twigs and berries, coming up with a PR campaign that pitches a toxic chemical to children, etc.
As sideline themes, Todd's right-hand man is trying to creep out one of the male candidates by continually hitting him with comments that have a gay overtone. And Todd's other overseer is a blatant feminist who keeps admonishing the hotties not to use their sexuality in trying to outperform the men. And Todd doesn't actually make the firing call - that's done by a secret boss who's identity won't be revealed until the end (rumored to be everyone from a chimpanzee to the fat chick from The Drew Carey Show).
After the infamous paintball episode, seven candidates are left as Episode 6 begins. You can view the .wmv file

Trump Bump 9pm tonight.
A Magna/Net Worth Team Shake-Up! Plus, Moby, Barenaked Ladies, Eve and Gene Simmons!
Nice entertainment lineup.
