Jack's Back
I am sorry sir, we will check with our departments and see if we can locate the individual you are looking for. However, there is the court order. A lot of govt types might melt before that. But how sure could they be where this guy is being held. So, I guess some waiting game could/should be played... at level where --I am not sure we have him,,,, they are tryign to locate our agents and find out. Please have a seat ....or call back in the morning.
LOL
good night, I'll turn out the lights. First time I didn't hit the thread until after hte show was over.
There are moments of spine tingling brilliance, and then, there's that scene right out of a skit from Madd Tv.
Amnesty Global. That part made me chuckle.
Yeah, but at least he expressed some compassion for the perp's pain after he was done interrogating him. :)
That's not fair!
I had to watch it sober.
That was a great touch...with the amnesty crud. Irritating but revealing about what's going on.
Thank goodness for Jack.
I'm gonna do that too (season 1) can't wait.
Just like every dang week, I'm talkin' to myself at 11:39 central time.
I thought this was a great episode as it exposed the stupidity of judges, aclu types, etc.
Now this "president" wants to arrest Jack???
This is pathetic... I'm trying to figure out who he reminds me of... Captain Queeg, of course, but I mean politically.
Is he more like John Kerry would be or algore? I think I'm goin' with Kerry--I've always thought he was a coward.
I still don't understand why you people think the former prez is coming back. Will this guy be relieved of duty? will he totally freak out?
Stay tuned.
Whatever happened to Lynne, anyway? I presume she didn't make it because otherwise we wouldn't be seeing Mike Novick in Season 4.
It's Audrey. She is this season's Nina or Marie. I had her pegged weeks ago. Book it.
Sure, and I had to miss it!
OK, thanks all, this is the first "24" season I've seen, AND it's the only TV series that I've followed for more than a couple or three episodes, EVER !
So I missed the (re) entry of Palmer tonight...
I don't think he re-entered tonight (maybe on the preview of the next show?).
Unlike some here, I think this show is going downhill week by week.
First I want to say that we need to hire this Marwan guy, he has an organization that has apparently millions of people working for him scattered throughout the county all connected by secure cell phones that have kept completely silent and out of trouble for years and can now act on a moment's notice. How else do you explain how he can get a team to ambush a convoy quicker than the 500,000 man military can get extra protection to the convoys?
Also, he doesn't miss a beat, even his team is quick to note when it has messed up.
Problems with this show are numerous. Sorry, I know it is just a TV show, but if you are going to ask your audience to accept a super-villain like Marwan and his team, you should keep the small stuff believable.
1. I still have trouble believing that CTU is running an emergency room hospital.
2. We are supposed to believe that CTU is within 20 minutes of a marina that Marwan would use, since the team was able to secure the suspect and drive him back in that period of time.
3. Then we are supposed to believe that during the same 20-minute period, an international agency can get a lawyer in the middle of the night, get him to a judge, have the judge draw up a legal document, round up a marshal, and then the marshal and lawyer can get to CTU in time to stop an interrogation. All in 20 minutes?
4. Most rediculous line award: OK, we are 11? hours into a terrorist attack. Mutiple cities have been evacuated, one power plant was melted down with thousands of people dead. Air Force One was shot down in the last hour. Now the VP is president and has just made a speech. A few minutes later they find out about the nuke, and the advisor says to the president:
"The good news is that this is happening in the middle of the night. Most of the country is still asleep"
5. Are there really mountains at the Illinois/Iowa boarder?
6. Could the president possible have, in that little code book, the complete list of where every nuke is in the country, on a minute-by-minute basis? By lat/long?
7. But CTU said that when the crisis started, they shifted all the shipments. Could they also have updated his little printed red pages with the new information on the "thousands" of nukes in this country, while he was up on Air Force One, with the football locked up?
8. How did Marwan get a team of terrorists in the right place to attack a shipment within 30 minutes of Marwan getting the codes, and within 10 minutes of him reporting where the shipment was?
9. Meanwhile, it had been 30 minutes since they lost the code, and the shipments are supposed to check in every 20, but somehow this one didn't?
10. And we couldn't get any word to this shipment (and all the others?), even though the terrorists have no trouble callign their terrorist buddies? They have better radios than our military?
11. We ship nukes around the country all the time, just for the heck of it?
12. We would still do this in the middle of a terrorist attack which includes a meltdown of a nuclear power plant?
13. We find a convoy burning within 20 minutes of its attack, meaning the terrorists can't be more than 20-30 miles away, and we don't immediately deploy a squadron of apache helicopters (or even a couple of police choppers) to do search?
14. We train a satellite on the area, presumably with infrared sensors, but can't detect a burning truck on a major highway?
15. How could everybody be confused by black smoke and think it was actually white smoke? (Oops, that's another thread)
16. "We are a highly trained anti-terror attack team. We therefore will just walk around a boat with windows with no concern that we might be seen, because we have the power of invisibility. So long as no one looks at us.... Darn, he looked at us!!!!"
17. "I'm sorry, did you say you wanted us to take him alive? We don't know how to do that, we're CTU. We're lucky to keep anybody alive including our own agents...."
I swear, when the lawyer walked in with a US marshal I almost turned off the TV. They could have easily had the lawyer CALL CTU and tell them about the stay, and fax the papers over.
I still love this show, so I hate it when they do stupid things.
I also can't stand Chloe, with that ever-present "I have no idea what is going on, but it scares me to death" look. She could be competent, but I don't see how she would ever get past the job interview......
Usually, just '24'. However, last night, even the commercials were screwed up, and the same problem over-lapped into the WB's line-up. (The local FOX affilliate tape-delays the 8-10 p.m. WB shows and runs them in the FOX slot from 10 p.m. until 12 p.m. That's the reason I have to stay up until 11 p.m. on Wednesdays to catch 'Smallville;, while the REST of America watches at 8.)
I am gonna tell you like my wife tells me, " it's just a tv show so shut up and quit spoilin it for everybody else".
My wife and I have been watching this season together. Almost every show, we've been guffawing over the gafs the writers are making...we're willing to suspend belief for 'dramatic purposes', however, we're not stoopid. The mountains of Iowa/Illinois??? obscured the convoy?from communicating?durn! Don't these CTU people have more than ONE chopper? Etc.
Torture is justified in extreme situations, in my opinion, but I don't think that torture always produces results: I would think a lot of "false positives" come back as people say something they think the torturer wants to hear.
ping to read later.
