I think that if this were a real situation, the Feds would be spending a lot more time on the arrested dude's phone records, communications history, bank accounts, etc., and also be tracking info on the other guy -- they got his phone and he called Marwan. And they might offer some sort of deal to the guy they arrested, and make that offer expire in half an hour or something like that.

Torture is justified in extreme situations, in my opinion, but I don't think that torture always produces results: I would think a lot of "false positives" come back as people say something they think the torturer wants to hear.
