HELP!!

I can't get online from home. After my last post last night (6:30 ish?), I went offline to watch a program, tried to get back online afterwards, and this a.m., to no avail.

I have cable...I know it's working okay, because another computer is able to get online....just mine won't.

I've cleaned up the hard drive, run scan disk and defrag after rebooting several times and shutting it off completely as well.

I typed "www.yahoo.com ping" at run, and I'm getting the same thing: can't find it.

Any suggestions?

I'm at work, so I will only be able to read your answers here and there before I go home (unless for some reason, the computer starts working again, all by itself).

Thanks.

The time that happened to me, I had inadvertently clicked the "stop" button on the norton firewall. Even after I rebooted, I couldn't connect to the web... turned out that norton set a rule that I.E. wasn't allowed access to the internet. I had to go in and re-allow I.E. to access the web. Sheesh.

I dunno, Nic, but I will ping a couple of the computer gurus.

See Nic's post #3265. Any suggestions?

sounds like your modem or ethernet card died.
Either that or your browser has lost it's setup on how to find a domain name server.
