Jeeeeeeeeeeees Mo..it's one of the videos I made. What's the use?
Sighhhhhhhhhhhhh..........
not to worry, grannie....I'm sure someone will help us (or me at least) figure out what codec I'm missing. I did download a codec, but it must not have been the right one.
lol - aren't you supposed to be decorating, or something?
Family's coming over at 5:30, so it's time to start prepping everything, myself included.
Cheers, everyone.
.....Westy....
......Westy.....
.....Westy.....
Good afternoon to all, from the chilly, grey-skied Pacific Northwest....its so dull here now, with cold temps, thick clouds filling the skies, and the ever present threat of rain mixed with snow....all the Christmas lites are gone, and the humdrum atmosphere of this area in January has set in....now thoughts turn to spring....
This year of 2005, will one of big change for me and BigDom...we are filling out papers for social security, and retirement benefits from the post office...BigDom will be saying so long, good bye, good riddance to his job at the post office....the last day of April will be his last day of work, and a day he has just waited for, for a long time...hes tired of working, tired of having bosses(aside from me, that is), tired of being tied to a specific time schedule....so as of the last day of April, ,he is a free man....and we will be free to do as we wish, travel when and where we wish, do as we wish, unhindered by what was the life long adherance to a work schedule...a great sense of joy and freedom, tempered only by realizing that we will now be on a more or less fixed income...ah, but we have planned for that as best as we have been able, so we will be just fine....but it is somewhat disconcerting to realize that while at the post office, BigDom could work about as much overtime as he desired, to earn lots of extra money, and now that option will be gone..but it is by our own choice and our own desire to gain our freedom....so come what may, we will be on our own....
Last weekend we went up to Seattle for one of our three day weekend jaunts to visit the pubs of Seattle, sample the still present Christmas brews, and visit with Andy....we went to one of our favorite pubs, the Maritime, which brews a really potent Christmas brew called Jolly Roger,(9%), and Dom delighted to find they still had plenty on tap...we had some with our steak dinner, took a growler of it back to the motel, and toted a case of it out to take home to Olympia(where you cannot buy it)....BigDom always grins, when he can find Jolly Roger in six packs....
We saw Andy on Sunday...went to Hales pub, and had a dinner, and caught up on what is going on...Andy is headed out on another trip, leaving next Sunday morning....this time he is headed for of all places, Cuba, for three weeks....he will be going up to Canada on Friday nite, and catching a flite to Cuba on Sunday morning....a friend from his world trip, will be joining him down in Cuba, to go around with him for a while.....then a lady friend of his will be joining him for his third week in Cuba....as usual, I worry about him, when he is in search of adventure...but he is a seasoned traveler, and knows how he should and should not behave when in a foreign country....I worry about Cuba, because of the embargo, but Andy is determined to visit there...he wants to see Cuba, live among the people, see what life in Cuba is really like, see it for himself...he realizes it is Communist, that there is extreme poverty there, that it will be a difficult trip...that being an American in Cuba, will be frowned on by many...and I worry about him...but what can I do, hes a grown man, I cannot rope him in....he leads his own life, does as he wishes, and this time around, he wishes to see Cuba...I am sure he will be fine, much as I worry....he says he will probably not be able to send daily blogs, as he has done on his other trips, simply because internet access if strictly limited, and probably surveilled...so daily blogs will have to be put on hold, and he will just have to give a big general blog once he returns....I always give him a send off kiss, and tell him to be careful, come home safe and sound...hes says, thats his intent...
Our third day we went to a pub called Murphys...we love Murphys for many reasons...great beer, great food, one can smoke in Murphys, and one can bring their pets, if they are well behaved...there is always one cutie pup there, who comes with his man partner...they always spent their afternoons a Murphys...the little curly pup remembers me, and knows then when I am there, he can expect little nibbles of chicken from me...he stands under his table, and barks at me, to give up more food...the mix of people at Murphys is always interesting...students from the UW, out of towners such as me and BigDom, locals, and such...conversation there is always spirited, and one and all join in with their opinions, whether or not, you even know the people having the conversation....not an atmosphere for many folk, but BigDom and I love it...darts are flying at the dart game, this time lawyers wondering aloud, why judges dont follow the law, and a spirited discussion as to what would possess a man to have sex with a sheep...beers being chugged, dogs barking, the fire in the fireplace blazing, and people who just left the 'Phantom of the Opera' movie, discussing the merits of deficits of said movie....a full evening there was had by me and BigDom...
Here is hoping the one and all on the DD or Freeoples thread are well, and healthy, and happy in their lives...
Valerie, I always think of you especially, with two sons in the military....with BigDom having been in the military for so many years, I know that military life for your boys is so different from civilian life, and of course, I know that you, as a mom, have graver concerns for your boys, than most of us have...GodBless them for serving their country, and GodBless you, for supporting them in their service...its hard for you as their mom, but gosh, you must be so proud of them....
Well, thats it for now....hopefully, one of these days, I will have a little more time, to be on DD with all you fine folk....Be well, be safe, be happy....
Hi. I hate yard work.
Soooo, Are you a phone geek?
Mom.......what a treat to read your letter and hear from you again. I wish you and Big Dom the very best for the future. I hope you live many healthy years and enjoy that RV and all the fun travel a person can handle.
Don't ever forget us, Mom..because we never forget you and yours.
You'll be free right about the time we'll be heading home to NH. I'll remember that, and drink a toast to you.
Love, Grannie
Tell Andy to get some press credentials. Pressitutes are exempt from the embargo.
And what would you rather be doing?
