To: no one in particular
I had an earthquake dream last night.
Was miniature golfing in a big room with a pyramidal roof and open ceiling. Rather crowded.
Sharp vertical jolt. No one panicked. Ten second delay between jolt and lateral shaking. 88 seconds of shaking. Everyone counted the seconds out loud. Reminiscent of a New Year's countdown.
No local damage to speak of.
I estimated 7.3 at 100-150 miles. someone else said far bigger and farther.
Cell phone service out. Talk radio out (music stations still on line). No TV coverage.
Had to walk back to the coastal city in my stocking feet. (Well duh! everyone miniature golfs barefoot), parts of the city looked like down town LA, part of the Hollywood/Los Feliz area. The coastal area had several clusters of sky scrapers arranged in circles.
Ended up sheltering in caves, one of the people got a huge cash award (earthquake donation or something like that) when we asked to share he threw shoes at us. I got some black golf shoes.
Still no news coverage/cell coverage, some people were able to get connections. I wasn't.
I found a thin radio, odd bands, AM went down to 200 kHz, had a TV screen, no news, built in DVD player.
Really odd, like as far as the rest of the world knew nothing had happened.

No, FoxNews is on, I just checked. Kids often like pasta, spaghetti type stuff too. At least mine did/does.

I'm thinking I maybe over estimated the visibility, I'm not a good judge of distance even when there isn't any fog. Let's just say that it wasn't possible to see very durned far.

he threw shoes at us. I got some black golf shoesLOL! Awww, I'm not laughing at your dream though nully, I'm betting you've been in earthquakes and they were big time scarey. I used to dream about tornados a lot, especially when I was stressed in my waking hours. I haven't done that in a long while, but then I haven't lived in real tornado country for several years either.

Our river flood stage is going down here, but we're expecting more heavy rains. Darn it! The local news were reporting that some levy might have to be destroyed. It doesn't make sense to me why, as I thought they served the purpose to relieve flooding. Maybe Swervie will know.

Either a strange dream, or the mushrooms on your pizza were the kind the DEA would be interested in.

Hit a patch of fog once where I couldn't see beyond four foot in front of the car.
I was taking it slow since I really had to get home, had some idiot try to pass someone while driving with his lights off.
That we somehow missed each other was a minor miracle.
Needless to say, I think I may have used up a good bit of luck and providence there that evening.

Stay safe. The flood pictures from Utah are scarey.

I've never been scared by an earthquake. I slept through my first one. (You'd never guess where, either!)

Oh, I'll be alright, but I feel so sorry for those who surely be affected.
A lot has been done in buy outs and such since the 1993 flood, but there are still many farms and rural areas in danger. Ah, the 500 year flood was incredible. Our court house sits on a big hill right on the Mississippi. In order to see the river when the gates were closed, we would go there and sit and watch the river. I have never seen a more ugly and evil sight. We could see parts of boats and houses floating along. The water was so swift, they didn't stay in sight long.

I try hard to be extremely careful.
And usually I don't take chances.
But that night I really didn't have a choice.
