We went to eat Mexican food downtown tonight. The gates to the flood wall look so strange closed. And the sandbags within barricades, too. The city barricades all sewer line openings to keep them from popping open from the pressure from the river.

"My husband growled when he came in from shovelling saying something about living in Mexico" LOL! Well, Mexico might be a little drastic, but down here it only snows once or twice a year as a rule, and it goes away in a proper fashion.
I'm thinking I really didn't need that second Margarita. My next door neighbor invited me out for supper. We went to this Mexican place. Well, if you're gonna eat Mexican food, you HAVE to have a Margarita, right? Good thing Nully is so far away. If he was nearby, I would probably be very easy to take advantahge of tonight. LOL!

Hi Westy, how are you tonight? Everyone has weather woes. Do you?
To: sweetliberty
I had Mexican food tonight, too. I ordered a large margarita and was surprised when he brought it in a huge salted mug...about a quart size it looked. Woo woo...
To: Conservababe
There's just something about a good Margarita......

I went to help my daughter at the grandson's five year old birthday party with his little friends at the bowling alley. I mostly chased Joshua, the little one, to keep him out of the way.
Anyway, Jeremiah has already had a birthday celebration with his no-good-dad and his family over New Years and received gifts. Yesterday, his class had a little party for him. And Wednesday, his real birthday, his Mom and I are taking him for lunch at a "johnese" restaurant. He just had his first taste of Chinese food last week and wanted it for his birthday. And in the evening, we will have pizza and open the gifts from us.
He knows all the plans. And today, coming home from his bowling party he says "I'm glad my birthday lasts a long time". LOL

I guess things are as special, in their own way, for kids now, as they were for us back then, but it just seems that with divided families and multiple celebrations of events such as Christmas and birthdays, they lose some of their specialness somehow. That's like Tyler, having one "Christmas" before leaving his dad's, another at his mom's, another here (real Christmas) and another when he returned. It just seems rather anticlimatic to me. Christmas was such a big deal to me when I was a kid, butr I wonder if it would have been as much so if I had it 3 or 4 times.

Oh, I do know what you mean about Christmas, Libby. It is sad.
But, birthdays in my family are different. All the children who are old enough, about four years old, have birthday parties with their little friends only. But, our grandkids also expect a special birthday celebration with family only.
The only sad thing about this year is that no-good-dad is not here for his real birthday. I'm going to rant on him and tell you what a rotter he is later.
To: westmex
Westy, it sounds like you are in the same mess as most of us, weather wise.
Keep the faith, the sun will shine again.
Have you checked on the eagle cam today? Darn, I hope they don't abandon nesting there this year.
To: Conservababe
I haven't checked, but think it is to early in the year for any activity...Wait till spring..lol

Bald eagles in Washington are migratory, and eagles that nest in Washington typically move north after nesting and spend several weeks each year feeding on early salmon runs in coastal British Columbia and southeast Alaska. Many of the eagles that concentrate along rivers in Washington during winter are birds that nest in Alaska, British Columbia, and Montana. Washington nesters usually return to their territories by late January.
