we're back...had a long and busy day. The trip to the capitol was good but we'll have to go back as we didn't have time to see everything. We had a great turnout of homeschool families for the rally. We stopped at Gov. Matt Blunt's office...never got past security...the kids got Jr. Deputy stickers and we dropped off a letter from thegirl to Mr. Blunt. Next stop was our rep...we spent 15 min chatting with him. He's from here and knows our neighbors and goes to church with one of the homeschooling families in our group. He was a real nice guy...gave the kids some bottled water and ooohed and aaahed over the card theboy made which made theboy happy (especially since he thought he was making the card for Mr. Blunt).
Took a quick guided tour of the capitol bldg and we were off to g'nad's doctors appt. I waited in the car with the kids vs. running after the newboy in the bldg....we read and sang and read and read and read...thenewboy finally fell asleep about 3 hrs later. We saw a rescue helicopter come in for a landing and were very excited to see daddy return. The VA was short a doctor, computers were down and the doc that saw him was young and needed a second opinion. Poor G'nad was worrying about us the whole time.
Sunset was beautiful on the way home and we made it safe...so, it was a good day. We'll post a pic later.

Clare and I went to see a stage presentation of "To Kill a Mockingbird". Got fahklempt again; happens every time I see the movie, too. The actors were very good, and there was a question & answer session with them after the play. We went forward to check out the scenery when everyone else had gone and chatted with the Sound designer who was still there. It was very interesting hearing how they have just a couple of days between each play to put up the sets and install the sound needed for that particular play.
We're going to see "Miss Saigon" there in a couple of months. My Girl Scouts voted to do that and go out to dinner for a special night out.
Evening - glad the trip went as planned. There wasn't any mention up here 'bout the HomeSchoolDaze up here. Not surprising though, the 'redstar' tends to downplay anything positive.
Sorry to hear the newdoctor couldn't find the leeches, I'm sure G'nad was looking forward to it. BTW - from here on out ~ all ~ the newdoctors are going to look young. :-)
Looks like we're going to get some okay weather in the next few days. The wood elves haven't cleaned up storm damage so looks like LSA and I will spend some quality time with the chainsaw this weekend.
Sounds fantastic! We have Capitol Day here, too...but I've never had the chance to go to it.
Hey, guess what!! My neighbor has a friend that manages an apartment complex...she said that now and then they just get rid of all their washers and dryers and buy new ones. She said she would try to get me a dryer for FREE! That would be nice...the clothes froze on the line day before yesterday.
