Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

You kilt it on your way out...
We watched a fun heartwarming Christmas movie (Die Hard) and hung out. The guys watched an episode of 'Lost' first while I made snarky remarks, not knowing anything about the show. And I gave a viewing of one episode of FMwS and two of another, in preparation for the New Year's Eve "We're being abandoned by the parents anyway so let's stay up until three and watch anime" fest.

Y'all NEED to try the Fall Creek Chardonney...I was not ever a big fan of chardonney either...mostly because the chardonney I had tried before always had a funny aftertaste that erased whatever initial pleasure I took out of the taste of it. But Fall Creeks is darn near perfect, and I'd drink it in a heartbeat. Trouble is, I can never find it. I *don't* like their Chenin Blanc because it is sweeter than I normally like my wines.
Texas wines are good. The top three labels I recommend are : Llano Estacado (Llano is pronounced "yah-noh"), Fall Creek, and Messina Hoff; not necessarily in that order. A particular type of wine y'all might enjoy is called Gervitztrominer (msp). It has a light flowery bouquet that is quite good after a heavy meal...like a dessert wine. Could practically be the dessert itself in some cases. Another one is Johannesburg Reisling.

Wife and I watched "Ocean's Eleven" and then "The Grinch" whilst we were wrapping presents. Good thing I'm not working tomorrow (or actually it's today). We just finished.
And even better thing that we didn't wait until Christmas Eve to wrap packages.

Good morning happy campers! Izzit Christmas yet?
Inlaws come to day. Half of them, at least. Have more cookies to bake and more cleaning to do!
How I wish I had a ring of power so that once the house is clean I can keep it that way!

So what's the range of this big snowstorm in the central south? Bad in Tennessee... Kansas? Oklahoma? Missouri?
To: HairOfTheDog
No snow for us up here. :-( They're saying freezing rain is possible, but not snow.
I WANT snow! Why can't it come HERE?

None here either.... it's not even freezing at night here. Unseasonably warm. Been in the 40s. Last night it got a little colder, 38 right now. No precip.
To: HairOfTheDog
Supposed to get to 48 today (!!?) here. After being -20 two days ago. WTH?
I get the feeling someone up there is havin' fun playing with the thermostat knob...

NEWS FROM ANDY'S MOM!!:
"This just in today from Chris: Andy was up today for the first time using a walker :-) Tomorrow we will try a wheel chair....maybe even venture off the 5th floor! AND check out the new issue of TIME magazine (the one with President Bush's photo on the cover) because Andy's picture is in it..he is shaking hands with the President after he was presented with his Purple Heart!!! WOW! He really was enjoying the attention today when his picture was noticed by others...what a morale booster for all the young men in the photos!
Please pass along to everyone that their many prayers are working...Andy is getting stronger everyday! We appreciate all the cards and kind thoughts and prayers coming our way!"
Somebody see if they can find his picture!!!
300wn, I've asked where exactly we should send the knives...am waiting to hear...can you hold off till I hear? Cards and such should still go to the hospital...
