The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

One day I'll be inspired and rent the first 3 seasons. It'll prolly take me a year to find the time I'll need to watch it all though!

The late fees will be tremendous!

Masked potatoes? Like when Mr Potato Head holds up a bank?

Mashed potatoes and potato salad have the same sort of "wrong" consistency for me, that's all.

Oh, I should have said earlier... you don't really need to see the earlier seasons of "24" to know what's going on in this season. Only two characters are carried over (one of them being Jack) and only one of the events in Season 3 is even mentioned.

Oh jeez! That commercial is only slightly less annoying than the new Rooms To Go commercial.

Actually a coworker told me that already. But I like having the whole season to watch in a matter of days. So I'll wait for Season 4 to be out on DVD.

Which I reckon means y'all can talk about it, 'cause I'll forget it...

Are we talking of food?

Well, we were... but I think everyone got the munchies and went off to find something to eat.

... the lesser of two weevils...

LOL...hey I finally broke down and got Gladiator. Still think M&C is Crowe's best.

If you can, get the special edition M&C...it has a second disc with deleted scenes that perhaps explain the backstory a bit better. And if your better half likes Crowe, some nice scenes in it for her as well LOL.

The LESSER of two WEEVILS!

If you get a chance do pick up the book. I sure have enjoyed the heck out of the series.

Instead of knife, how about a gerber multi-plier (I prefer it to leatherman products) instead?

I actually started the book while we were at the beach last summer. But I got distracted.

I don't have nearly enough time to read. But I'm doing better.

Actually a good bowl of chile needs neither ketchup nor tomato paste.

Ecurbh, have you ever partaken in bowl of green chile at the 'Brown Jug' in Winslow AZ? Hmmmmm
