The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Could you recommend a good lab knife? The Boss wants a knife for the lab.

A knife for a laboratory? Probably one of the fancier Swiss Army knives, with lots of tools, would do.

Heh, I can imagine... but pasty is pronounced with a short "a", like "last". It's a traditional food where I come from, bland but comforting. Rose doesn't like 'em at all...

I'll see what the laboratory catalog stocks and ask him what exactly he wants this knife to do (besides removing broken fittings. We already have cutters for tubing.

(I recall instead of real salad, they had jello salad, and the sandwiches were ham-paste on buttered bread.)

you say that likeitsuhbadthing... Hair, make sure to include jello salad and ham paste on buttered bread on the menu

yeah... the small town cuisine can be pretty humble, but those are great people...

Southern Iowa ain't near as flat as Nebraska or most of the Dakotas... Hell, its hillier than Mississippi...

No, that's a split more along the lines of personal taste rather than ethnic origin.
