Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

We'll we're just passing the 6" mark and big'ol is still out on the tractor plowing our drive (it's a long drive). It's a really dry, powdery snow. Gonna drift once the wind picks up. But it made an easy drive to and from the outlet mall (<5 miles).
Got a couple nice outfits - including a suit. The 5#s lost since Christmas have me feeling better about things but the pics from the ball are so annoying. I look much thicker in the middle than I am. *harumph*
Anyhoo. I have to find one of these so that I can cook it and eat it:

Turns out Chuck Norris was a look-alike.
I was feeling foolish for a while until it dawned on me that someone who looks a lot like an actor, dresses just like him and wears a nametag in public with that actor's name on it has some issues.

I'm gonna second everything you said about the clothes, including the 5#s since Christmas. But I always regard the first five pounds as "water weight" and don't get too excited about them... sigh...
It's not as warm today as it was yesterday. I started the weekend right, with a good nine hours of sleep. Of course, we are talking the nine hours between 3am and noon, but...

It's cold and clear here. So far I've done laundry, cleaning, and made a big pot of split pea soup for the week. I'm trying to get the kitchen and dining room good enough to photograph.

I'm doing homework. Need to do laundry but I'm out of quarters.

Well, at least you don't have to go out in it, right?

We were out earlier at the home show, then stopped and got Nana's drugs and stopped by the grocery store.
About an inch of ice and we're supposed to get snow on top of that. Hearing thunder now.
That's just weird.

I wonder if my folks are getting hammered. How far north does this thing go?

I think Pennsylvania is supposed to get about a foot of snow. Just an hour north of us they're getting snow and expecting 4-8 inches.
We're right on that freezing line. An hour south of here it's mostly just rain.

Yeah, I remember the ice storms we used to get when we lived in northern VA. Very pretty if you're a kid, otherwise a nightmare.
No snow here, though it's chilly today.

Finished cleaning...woo hoo!
I even washed the cat blankets and cat barrier.

We're holding at 8" of white stuff for now. Forecast is for more overnight.

I got half of my report finished, decided I really can't do this other assignment until we study it in class, and worried about the books that haven't arrived so I can't study them. Sigh.

TheNewsGuy just said that my relatives in SE Mass should expect 30 inches.
To: JenB
Cleaning was the fun part. Now I've got a box full of 2 weeks worth of mail that I have to sort through.
