New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
|
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Coming yer way.
Just for grins... here's where the wiring runs, if you can see the wires on the top of the second 2X6 from the roof. In the first pic... There's the dead outlet near the pony's doorway, and the fence charger now connected with the extension cord to the other side of the barn that still has power. It's all high overhead, but exposed so you can see it most of the way around the barn. It ~was~ at waist level, and my dad moved it up high this last fall when we re-modeled the barn to make the doorways. When we raised it, there was extra length to the wire and we just made a big loop (second pic) you can see just to the left of the outlet.
The horses... seem to have relaxed some and were eating hay again in the lean-to. Pony's the one over there near the doorway. Bay nearer.
Bay ran pony out and went down to that hay rack... and now Cyn is coming in.
Their behavior this morning was likely unrelated to this electrical issue, and perhaps was due to some other animal or something in the woods. I just may never know.
They sure did! I fired them up to HIGH until the the heater kicked in!
To me, the most important thing about Western civilization, and this comes from Judeo-Christian philosophy, is the concept of being endowed by a creator with rights. Each person has intrinsic value not connected to station in life, personal talent, etc. Different countries have approached this idea in different ways. I happen to think that our Founding Fathers got it right all the way down the line and that is why we are the most prosperous and, at the same time, most generous nation on earth.
And this message from Sonya:
To all hobbit friends of Hair of the Dog and Ecurbh: Here is a photo I wanted to share with you of Hair and Ecurbh holding my baby Megan when they came over and brought us a huge KFC meal. I think they look good as parents even though this is a posed photo.
Hair's first thing she said to baby was "you want a pony??" and she also said she won't babysit until Megan is completely potty trained. Ecurbh gave no comment at all.
Thanks to all of the hobbits who gave me advice on helping Megan poop. Used the Karo syrup trick. ~Sonya
:^)
Marl's problems happen in very dry weather. I still think you have some oddball AC problem that manifests itself in very wet weather. It will probably go away when things dry out, but if you want to fix the underlying problem, you might want an electrician out there while the problem still exists.
How sweet!!! I'm so glad the Karo worked! My kids didn't have any trouble with poopin'...think "mustard".
Well, good idea, but budget is skinny right now till the end of the month... not sure there's money to have somebody expensive like an electrician out ~right~ now.
Thanks for the visual. ;~D
I think Sonya thought if I held the little one long enough I'd decide I had to have one! So she posed the shot. I was perfectly content to visit hers ;~D
Hey, you know what I did?
I went to Aldis yesterday and Matthew and I went through the whole store writing down the prices of the things I buy the most. It's not much, it's not a big store and we pretty much eat the same things over and over, you know? Anyway, I did this so I would have a clearer picture of what I needed to buy each payday.
Then I came home and set up a two-week menu, using the list and now can determine within a few dollars how much Steve needs to give me cash (Aldis doesn't take checks, you know...nor my particular debit card.) When I had figured that out, I also figured out that I could fix our main meal, supper, for about 3-4 dollars a meal! For the whole family! With possible left-overs!
Now granted, it's not fancy...includes a lot of hamburger and chicken thighs.
Also, as an added benefit, I found that I needed "a few" items...like mayo. I got out my list, added up the cost of the items I needed and even added the tax and had it in my hand before I left the house...I was able to go in to Aldis, grab what I needed, pay exactly what I had in my hand and walk out quickly...no fiddle-fartin' around you know? Saved time and money by restricting "impulse" buying...
I like to use Aldis, 'cause they are really cheap and good (better than brand names a lot of times) and most of all, they are just down the street from me...not as far away as Walmart. The only hassle was the cash only deal...which I'm hoping to overcome with this list.
Blah blah blah...
Steve has school tonight till 10pm...
I just got an email from someone named Mary Hausenfluck...one of them exe files, you know? I won't open it (I'm on the mac anyways) but can you get a load of that name???
It's a haint.
I'm from Appalachia. I know these things.

Would a haint be a ~haunt~?
Ia m tellin' ya.... now with this weird poster from a two year old thread.... It's a TWILIGHT ZONE DAY!
Hmmm... did I ~really~ wake up this morning?
I reckon it would be to you yankees. ;-)
Someone on the saddle club thread asked if I believed in ghosts... I'm beginning to be open to unusual explanations!
I tell ya, I'm always at a loss when I go to the grocery store...I don't know what to buy and I'm not certain how much to budget. This way, I can say "This is what I need to buy and this is how much it's going to cost." Steve can either give me that amount when he goes to deposit the check or he can say "No can do...cut something." and I can re-assess and come back with a revised number. Or he can possibly say "Ok, here's what you asked for and a bit more!" and I can say "Thank you!" and buy the jedis some swiss rolls.
