I'm really hopeful the worst is over for Steve, actually...last semester was just awful...really ate his lunch so to speak and I felt terrible for him. But he made a B!
This semester is Environmental Law and finishing the thesis.
Both my grandfathers were alcoholics. Evidently, my paternal grandfather was not a very nice man in general, and when he drank...
My mother's father, well, he could be downright abusive. Then, when my brother was a baby, grandpa had a stroke. For the rest of his life he lived in the nursing home (let's see that's from 1981 to 2004). The change was almost overnight... quit smoking, quit drinking. His behavior was reverted to pre-WWII.
Hi!
Elf-boy is feeling much better. His throat is not as swollen, but still very tender. He no longer has any remnants of a fever. Woohoo!
I think we still have his cap and gown from when he graduated from college. I think all we'll have to buy is the hood.
He gets to wear a HOOD! How cool is that????
Good news! That stuff really works wonders!
That's terrible. Being deprived of decent grandparents is just wrong, I know. And of course your parents had to grow up like that... I'm lucky that my parents turned out sane and, more importantly, decided not to make the same mistakes their parents did.
WooHoo, only 4 months!!
I'm so excited! I know that the thesis may throw a kink in things, but Steve seems optimistic that it will be done in time!
His law class is from 7:30pm to 10pm every Tuesday this semester.
Granny was hard of hearing and we still have expressions in the family from Granny's misinterpretations of what she'd heard on the TV, radio, or something someone told her. When she was really old and winding down, she used to just up and say "I'm cold, Honey". I say it all the time, now, and it cracks the kids up, though they never really knew her. She died in 1992 at the ripe old age of 94.
I wasn't deprived of decent grandparents. On the contrary, I thought they were great! I was shielded from all the bad stuff.
Oglethorpe as in Oglethorpe county? Hey, that is where my Anderson's were in 1800.
I guess I have to wait till bittygirl gets older
Hey, where'd everybody go?
I'm here. Am wrapping up a bittersweet day. Sweet in that I got the promotion I've been campaigning for for over a year. But bitter in that they're saddling me with a leadership position I don't really want. They're trying to make a Troll out of me. A Demi-Troll for now. Maybe a Lesser Orc. *grump*
Congratulations!
Use the force, it is strong with you. Do not be tempted by the dark side....
uh, yeah, we have been watching StarWars today.
Sounds a lot like my great-grandma, the one I got to know a little bit. Just the sweetest lady... my parents had lousy parents but mom had good grandparents. Unfortunately they died before I got to know most of them.
will there be a webcam?
I'm going home to hibernate.
If'n I'm not dead, I'll stop by the thread...
You may not be dead but the thread is...
It's just restin'!
