The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

We're all cheering for you, Rosie. Let me know when you'll be here. I'll keep an eye out for inflatable mattresses ;-)

Won't promise anything but it might be possible for me to get a two-bedroom place in my complex before the lease is actually up... I can ask about that when I get back.

Oh, and cats are permitted, with a hundred dollar deposit, but we'd have to discuss that...

You know Rosie, if you could manage to get the critters in your suitcase when you go to the wedding, you'd be pretty close to a place where you could find a Home(r) for them...

We could take a donation...

Maybe post an FR thread? Someone here surely had a great love for that sort of dog.

Suzi's the closest. It would be cheapest to send them to her...

Well...there's one cat in particular that I'm really, really not willing to part with if there's any other option. Tam is...the cat I wanted all through my childhood and finally got. He's just an incredible character.

The others...well, my bothers love Halvah, so it's possible something could be arranged. The dogs, I just can't imagine moving. And they really need somewhere with someone there more.

Just ask your Dad to keep them until you "send for them"...

You know...I've never posted a vanity, but the idea is tempting. People that like dachshunds tend to really like 'em, and it would be AWESOME if they could go to a FReeper!

Maybe.

One, a nice old cat, I can certainly handle - I do have a thing about waking up with a cat on my face, the rest of the time I am fine with them. If they're not incontinent. Or too incontinent.

Dogs, I just don't see a way. They're very strict about dogs, I've got the lease until July...

Heh, post a vanity askin' for lots of help! Maybe someone's looking for a house in Vermont, or has contacts in Colorado for jobs.

If anyone knows how I can figure it out, I'd be forever grateful for any assistance!

Hmmmm....You could figure that the value of your house increasing by the average real estate appreciation (used to be around 5%) but I don't know how accurate that is. You might look around at real estate in your area and see what the list price for comparable houses are in your area. Or maybe you should just contact a real estate person who could get you a more accurate appraisal. If I remember correctly, the real estate commision that I paid was around 6%

Tam doesn't get on faces, doesn't puke in odd places or at odd times, and is very tidy. ;-)

More info than you wanted?

He's really a cool cat. Our drummer hates cats, but he holds Tam while he's drumming at practices. Tam loves him, for reasons I don't fully understand. Comes running when the band guys show. And the drummer thinks he's wonderful. Little brat...
