The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Canada's gonna invade. Oh well. Maybe they'll bring boots. At least they have good beer.

I always worry when weather guys think weather is "quite interesting".

I also worry when they use words like "strongly anomolous deep polar-like vortex"... Yikes! What? Are we about to go back in time or something?

Thanks, so are we. Don't relate near as well to cold as I used to. But the fire would have kept things civilized. And we would have been thankful for the fire. We have several days more wood on the racks, dry and tarped.

If your power is on and the heat's on, you won't break pipes in the walls. pipes will break if the power is out and it's cold inside and out. You can protect your faucets outside by wrapping them or getting those foam insulator thingys.

There's some things I'd like to do again, and a few things I'd skip ;~D

Our Rottweiler, Kybo was the biggest, smartest, most disciplined, loyal beast imagineable... never allowed on furniture, didn't beg fer table scraps...

one night I got up about 3 a.m. fer some reason... walked out into the livin' room tuh find him sprawled on the couch... four legs in the air, jowls rolled back... snorin' away... I quietly said "Kybo..." he opened one eye, and had the "oh crap!!!" look on his face... we had us a little "discussion"... as far as I "know"... that was the last time he got on the couch... he was certainly more careful from then on...

Yahknow, speaking of Canada invasions... if we gotta choose between the socialists from Canada and having to endure Gregoire... hmmm... that's a tough call.

Maybe the Canadians will invade, capture Gregoire hiding in her little spider hole, and then set us up with a good clean election.

This might just work.

The couch theme seems to have worked on some level. LSA is on the couch, Annie the cat in her lap and Gypsygirl is on the couch LSA. Thanks for channeling the 'couch is good' thoughts everyone.
